Hey guys. Not much to say other than; will there be a rough ETA of the return of the functional space station enviroment (ship spinning too) instead of this damn door?

A dam door is required to hold back the flood of tears.

I think you mean "damn".

Or, your guess is as good as ours.

Actually, I'm fine with the door - I can run multiple clients minimized, updating market orders every now and then and still play other games at the same time.

Once CCP rolls out with some sad excruse for the lack of a ship hangar and they disable the door, I will have 90% GPU load and slow docking times solely for a simple drag&drop functionality as well as doubleclick to open open cargo.

But I'm not overly worried atm :5 years:

You do realise the door actually uses more system resources than the old ship spinning just because the incarna client is worse?

I will rejoice the day we get the old ship spinning, drag 'n' droppin', double clickin' client back, but I doubt its ever gunna happen.

Yes - I do realize, but CCP already officially ruled out bringing the old hangar back - they said they would create 'something similar' with that terrible engine.

Judging from CCPs recent behaviour, they will bring us ship spinning using the carbon engine but without drag&drop or doubleclick-open cargo functionality. Well - at least we'll know what ship we're currently in without clicking around - totally worth turning my GPU into a fan heater and having to log in/out every time I want to check market orders if I want to do anything else on my PC.

As if ship spinning as such really mattered to anyone...

Or you could get all high-techy and keymap cargo to 'c' and items to 'i'. I'm new and figured that one out.

Yeah, Smile
Should actually be "-we are in the pipe-, five by five."

Watched it on a huge screen back then, my stomach sank in my feet when they undocked from the sulaco.
Great times. :)

Ideally it would be, as stated before by different people:

Space - (dock) - Hangar - (disembark) - Captain's Quarters - (ambulate) - Establishments

Hangar and CQ could use the same environment with culling LoD mechanics removing from one view what is only needed by the other to safe system resources. This way, with shared meshes and textures, the hangar will not bloat up the client.

They could even add a camera flight zooming in over the docked pod to the character in the CQ to imply the disembarking (and vice versa). Hell, they could even then add a camera flight from your space cam position into the station dock during docking while the hangar is loading in the background.

Just making things a bit more seamless, you know. Blink

Its shocking that our forum community has the creative zest we're lacking from ccp development at the moment :)
