Mobile Drone Units

Hello CCP and Eve Solo Players that dare to be Bold (Exploration, Sec 0.5 and lower.)

I know that it is a problem for some to venture pilots out in Sec 0.5 and lower. The use of mobile Tractor and depot units help out as Solo Venture Frigates and Bargers, Destroyers and Cruisers are used to mine with. The use of an extra alt characters helps here, but lacks helping in protection from PVE and PVP if mining is your main goal. (Stay and Die by Gangers Cry or Fly away from good profit Oops)

A Mobile Drone Unit starting at 25 bandwidth


1. New Skillbook: With increases by 5 - 25 bandwidth per level and the # of drones by (sm- 5, med-2, lg-1) per level based on skills maxing at Big smile (small- 25, medium-10, large-5 at a 125 bandwidth total). Smile

2. The ability to use mining drones would speed the boring time up abit, Also require player to pay attention to thier gaming more (AFK) Blink

3. Here balancing the useage maybe a problem with combat drones used in the beginning. Sadly, But switching them on the fly helps as the skill is improved. Blink Lol.

4. The same abilities like the other mobile units, but Control options on the unit directing where to place the Ore and Ice for storage, containers, a mobile tractor, Orca, Hauling ship or a can. and what to attack and under what conditions - thief, attack on your units or ships.

5. The units should be transferable between fleet, or corporate members. Cool

6. Receiving a BP (5 to 10) from mission in level 2 or 3 or a purchase (20 mil ISK) from market through a NCP corporate or CCP. gifts. The units could value could start at 30 mil or 40 mil. Bear

I would like mine delivered to me if the idea is used.Blink

MOAR Drone Assist! Everyone gets 5 extra drones! and since the drone controllers will be OUTSIDE the pos, it'll get around that whole no-drone controlling from inside pos shields! brilliant! Just "assist" whatever gun has a gunner on it.

Or anchor them randomly around a gate, oops they decloaked you, but they're my support, so its legal, and so are my extra drone that are killing you.

Get some Eve. Make it yours.

0.5 has the highest level of suicide ganking so it is more dangerous in a relative sense, but not for Venture pilots. Who on earth suicide ganks Venture pilots?

I think we've already jumped the shark with some of the recent Mobile unit additions… Do we really need to hump it as well?

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

I think if CCP were to make a mobile drone unit for this game, they should limit it to logistics and ewar drones, set an effective drone control range radius of 10 - 20 km (by size catergory, small 10 km, med. 15 km, large 20 km), make it one size (25 bandwidth), difference in size increases drone bay capacity by 5 m3.

Drones are always aggressive "attacking" whoever is in range (FoF mechanics).

For a bit of interesting gameplay, you need to hatch it like the old spacestations: add a drone 'Hive' unit to a cargo container (small or med), a set number of control tower fuel (depending on type of racial drone), the amount of drones (5-7) and then anchor the can in space to set the hive activation in motion (ideally, a fast anchor, fast activation period.)

An anchored drone 'hive' will attract random NPC rogue drones, immediately or over time (dependent on sec space hive is being anchored), who will attack the other drones and either convert them to rogues or destroy them and then take over the hive. The longer they stay in this hive the bigger it gets (developing into a mini civilization if left to fester long enough) and the harder it will become too remove them. Make the hive a disposible unit to begin with, have a random chance of discovery while it is active (the hive acts like a beacon to rogue drones). If it gets taken over, it becomes permanent until it is destroyed, if it doesn't it disintegrates. Set a time period for its destruction.

Strategy wise:
- fleets can set up mini repairs stations away from engagements to self repair/warp to.
- minor strategic ewar assistance (jamming, painting, neuts, webs)
- you can set a hive up near an enemy's pos/starbase/ gate, hope it gets taken over, and if they don't notice this thing growing it could pose a nuisance/inconvenience/ (heaven forbid) destruction of something valueable...

I think something like this would be very entertaining to see...



(side note: without actually taking over the hive, the use of the hacking skill and data analyzer modules on the hive could offer drones a bit of recognition over friend or foe; sort of like using digital Social skills.)
