Tournament Tactics

The Alliance Tournament was one of the things that initally gained my interest in this game. Pitting the best against the best in a universe as big as New Eden is a sure way to get some good action going and acheive some publicity.

So, I just have to ask:

Amid all the balancing, re-balancing, counter-balancing, buffs, nerfs, and other changes and developments in meta, what strategies or tactics do you forsee being used the most in the next Alliance Tournament? What things do you think will be used the least?


Will we see some more medium guns beings used since they were buffed a while ago?


Do you think more E-War will be prevalent, due to the recent overheating ability being added to certain mid-slot modules?


More armor-based fleets?


Will somebody be bold enough to field a bunch of ishtars and use drone assist for instant blapping?


Please, share your thoughts on the matter.

Not all are the best... Most just has the ISK to fund it.

I doubt they will come here and spew their tactics though. Hoping the whole drones assist thing is not allowed.

I would love to play in the Tournament one day.

Yeah, I'm not supposing they will come here and divulge their plans, but was simply hoping to generate some coversations from those who watch as to what they think/hope they will see.

I have to use to dev hacks and spy on teams just too figure out what the meta is going to look like for every tournament :)

I'd say that the New Eden Open II is probably going to have a lot of the tactics that you will see in the Alliance Tournament, especially with the changes we've made to point values and marauder use. I'd say there are lot tricks teams will pull out for a $25,000 prize pool, plus all the PLEX collected in the silent auction.

I would be very happy to see some armor fleets in the next one.

With the ability to overheat ewar that isn't just ECM now, the ability of armor fleets to free up their midslots for sensor damps or tracking disruptors might also lead to a use of more missiles.

All in all, these patch notes are a big win for fleet diversity.

I expect lots of drones, mostly grades, and lots of Ishtars

I too hope that drone assist is disallowed though

I wear my goggles at night.

Any spelling/grammatical errors come complimentary with my typing on a phone

wonder how many matches will end with 1 marauder on each side.. eternally unable to kill each other.

I'd hope the marauders would be fitting nos/neuts given they have 8 highs now.

I think its safe to say there will be a lot of armor based sentry drone setups

I personally think there will be lots of armor-based fleets, thanks to the overheating capability being given to numerous mid-slot modules, as mentioned above.

Diversity in the meta is always a good thing, and I hope we get some good fights out of it.
