I've noticed a LOT of threads get locked that aren't pro-CCP threads.
After looking over the forum rules, I noticed that ANY thread posted on eve-o will violate at least one rule, in one way or another. (including isd/dev posts)

From my perspective, it looks like ISD and CCP generally lock threads that aren't pro-CCP, while supporting any that are "thank you" or "I <3 CCP" posts.

So the question is, are the forum rules simple in place to censor people that don't agree with CCP?

Is it time that new rules were set, or possibly a "CSM" for the forums to prevent abuse?

I'd like to hear the community feedback on this issue.

From what I've seen, most threads directly criticizing CCP are neither constructive nor relevant. The tone isn't constructive, and the content isn't relevant. It's mostly just rage and flame bait. That gets locked. Constructively critical threads roll on until the terrible posting reaches epic proportions, which is an inevitability when we consider that many people who post here have completely nonconstructive agendas.

That's really the key in many things though. If you can word stuff right, you can get away with an amazing amount of things. Of course, you can also really prove a point well with the right wording also.

There are no rules, only consequences.

Most of it is incidental. As we know (and as is plain to see), much of topics that get created in General Discussion are of fairly poor quality.

The ones that get locked, as far as I have observed, are mainly topics which either have no content (one-line original posts, posts that are just a topic title and a smiley face as the entire body of the post, walls of text with unintelligible messages, etc.) as well as redundant topics (topics that touch on the same subject as another open, non-expired topic).

Now, it happens that a topic which criticizes CCP tends to exhibit one or more of these "spam"-type characteristics. There is often also an inflammatory element, which, while it makes sense that you might be angry when you have something to criticize, you can express your opinions without, or with minimal, negative emotions. Besides, I've seen a lot of criticism (and indeed made some myself) which is valid, properly formulated, and also angry, one despite the other, and vice versa. But I've never seen a post which was more valid than it was inflammatory ever get locked or removed.

However, that's not to say there isn't a problem.

There are clear signs of bias in the ranks of the moderators, and without naming any specifics, I have witnessed in the past certain posts benefit from the increased exposure of being posted in the wrong forum section, and remaining in the wrong forum section after inspection by a moderator.

Similarly I have seen posts getting moved to another forum section and left to die as a result, sometimes entirely deserved (if they were simply posted in the wrong place) and sometimes a bit undeserved (one thread gets moved, while another thread on the same topic gets to stay, even though they are both in the wrong place).

Most worryingly, on a few occasions in the past 5-8 years, I've seen some posts being posted in the right forum section, later getting inspected by a moderator, who in his words evaluated that the post was in the right place, and subsequently moved it to the wrong forum section to "give it more exposure". Not acceptable.

But over-all, I personally feel that the team of moderators are a bunch who work very hard for their paychecks, and their team of volunteers are a group who very much respect the privilege they pay for. I offer a large kudos to all of them (except those biased ones described above. Not you. You make the forum a worse place for everyone.)

Also, if you scream wolf (bias), please present proof via a support ticket or via e-mail to internal affairs. If you dont have any proof, well, dont scream wolf or no one will believe you.
