As the topic says, my current laptop which is a 3 year old Toshiba, bit the big one and I am replacing it. I'm debating on a two and one laptop or a stand alone for around 600 or so... i'm wondering if anyone has had any luck playing eve on a 2 n 1 (laptop/tablet) I might just use it to chat but if I can semi play... my old laptop BARELY played it.

I usually play on my stationary computer - Core i7, Nvidia 670 Ti, SSD, 16GB ram - I personally would never ever recommend using a laptop for gaming.

Sure you can play on a laptop but you always pay for the portability - also performance will always suffer on a laptop, mostly because they are designed for portability.

But if it must be a laptop I will recommend the ASUS ux32vd -

I went from a Toshiba to an ASUS and i will admit, i love it! Great maxed graphics, no trouble with overheating (unlike the Toshiba) and can even enter CQ without the poor computer screaming at me Lol

So yea, another vote for ASUS if you are looking for a laptop.

I would imagine that trying to play eve on one of those abominations know as a 2 in 1 laptop (fuckin liars its just a tablet with a keyboard) it would melt itself into a pile of raw slag which you then could use to make something more useful like a hat or dildo.

If you can't tell I don't hold 2 in 1's in very high esteem.

Not actually a 2 in 1 .. its a WIN 8 Acer touchscreen i5 notepad with dual video (built in intel for normal stuff nvidia kicks in when needed) and it runs OK with the exception of the occasional and very rare EVE CTD on dock exits and jump animations since the DX11. My work machine with straight integrated i3 graphics is far worse with the CTD issues,

Just check the return policy of where you're buying the computer, then "rent" it for a little bit. If you're satisfied, keep it. If not, return it and try another model.

I play on my Lenovo Yoga. It works quite well, though i have to use a mouse since the touchpad sucks.

Graphically, it's fine.

I've tried eve on my surface pro 2 and it works in terms of graphics.
As the above poster mentions you'll need to use a mouse as touchscreen/touchpad is difficult to use.

Come to think of it, having a proper external keyboard (not the slim version you attach to the machine directly) and an external/bigger monitor would probably make it alot more usable.
This depends on what you want to do, setting skills, updating market orders and so on would work fine but I wouldn't want to pvp on it and mess up due to the interface issues

I'm actually disappointed by the last ASUS laptop I bought. I'm a fan of their motherboards, but their laptops - not so much.

I have several desktops and 2 new high end ASUS Laptops of their Republic of Gamer versions.

They are very nice for EVE... (One is for my Gamer Wife)...

I fully agree with that. I even remember the review of "experts" back then wondering what a touch screen might be good for...
