Functions don't matter when the company desperately need some placeholders to call a patch "an expansion".

100 Nestors rep-ing each other and on drone-assist.
Wouldn't it be the nightmarish subcap equivalent of Archon/Aeons ?

Yep fit for pulse and try for close range drones you need omnis in the mids to track and hence have to armor tank but lose DDAs and not enough grid. Try and fit beams for range and you run out of grid for tach but assuming you get a beam fit to work, you do not have the targeting range which again will require sebos which again steal mids from your omnis or DDAs from your lows.

My personal preference is a touch more targeting range and power grid ... but every one seems to have their own ideas on how to "fix" this ship.

If you are planning on missioning in high sec then turrets and sentry makes sense.
i suspect for WH sites and pvp no one will be putting turrets on but using high slots for RR, cap transfer and ???neuts???. (poss also combat scanners)
This is what i was saying earlier. If you try and turn this ship into a swiss army knife in one fit you are just not going to make it work well. This will be a ship where you will see huge differences in fitting depending on the owners need.

Then why not use an carrier instead of a less tanky BS that costs about the same? Or do you see these 100 man Nestor fleets being used in high sec?

Shh, don't tell them that most fleets of anything can alpha them away.

Those of you who think it looks bad (it looks beautiful, much more like something real than all the other ships in Eve) just need to learn to appreciate it. Those of you who can't see how to use it with those bonuses, well, your going to miss out.

Me and a small gang will rule the skies with these things. I will take out great swathes of opposition, 2 vs 20 man battles and I will kill everything. Those bonuses are beautiful. Your not looking at the big picture. The short sightedness of everyone in here is incredible.

Have fun hitting anything with your sentries without optimal/tracking bonuses and without many omnis (you'll need cap mods and tackle).
The opposition could bring one Armageddon and you'll die in a fire.

Sentries were a favorite for PvE and some PvP drone use well before the ships using them had damage application bonuses, so how did the ships without them suddenly become unusable?

Projected price is going to be 700 million but maybe over a billion (factor in the LP "cost").

That is an extremely optimistic value.

Going further with the Excel magic and looking at BUY orders for items unique to the SOE store, I get an estimated sale price (excluding material costs) at 1.5 B ISK.

It is probably fair to speculate that at least half of the pirate battleships currently on the market has been produced by BPCs found in DED complexes, and as the Nestor is not planned to have that option, its price will be much higher than the rest.

Of course, this also hints that the SOE ship BPCs likely will be included in a drop table somewhere. Perhaps Ghost Sites...

Actually the Astero still sells for 90-100 million ISK and 600 LP will get you 20 Astero BPC so 1.5 Billion is the minimal build cost for a high sec mission runner. 1 Billion minimum if you make them in sanctuary.

700 million is just wishful thinking.

BTW there is no rational lore reason to get Nestor BPC from ghost sites.

Does the Nestor remind anyone else of the 2001: A Space Odyssey ships? Sort of the same theme.
Edit: Another 2001 ship.

Though your not getting an Archon into hisec ... which is where a lot of these things will live. But point taken.

Thing is people will pay 2 Billion for a ship without a problem. If it was useful to the incursion community for example they would snap it up.

The price is a problem because the source of BPCs is currently limited to SOE stations and there is already a huge demand for stuff that needs SOE LP. Thus the price is fixed by the demand for other SOE stuff rather than anything directly related to the ship itself.

In the end though, the ship WILL sell well, and people will find uses for it :D

They don't, but that's irrelevant for the case of your criticism in this instance.

As myself and others have stated in the F&I thread, this ship has no real purpose. At any given role, there are a plethora of ships that will do the job better. Add to that the fact that most of those ships will almost always be cheaper, and the nestor just plain confuses me.

Wasn't there just a big initiative (tiercide) to reduce the number of useless ships in eve? Why would CCP want to add a subpar BS? What?

Because a bunch of people screamed for it after the frigate and cruiser were announced.

That's about the only reason I can see. Otherwise, this ship will have to work pretty hard to make up it's pricetag. I can never see myself using it.

The only thing that justifies the pricetag of the other 2 is their ability to use cloaks.
