Fix POSs before you add anymore stuff that effects the POS system.

Can ccp please stop adding things that effect the POS systems until you guys redo the pos system?

I am all for the mechanics of siphons and putting an end to the once a month pos managers, but the pos system right now is so tedious and clunky that adding things like siphons is just a bad idea.

I realize that pos are such an base part of the game and the economy, but if you could hurry up and finish revamping them before you add more, stronger/different siphons THAT'D BE GREAT.

POSes are so badly broken that they need replacing, not fixing.

I think they should use the deployable structures mechanism to allow construction of building block POS's that do not need to be planet anchored. This would allow them to reflect the loss of empire control (just say that some lawyer found a clause somewhere that open space away from planets can be colonized by anyone). This would also allow them to write an entirely new POS management mechanism that is more flexible and more useable.

There would of course be a point where old stations need to be decommissioned but that can be managed buy an empire buy back of existing hardware or something. If the new mechanism is an improvement in flexiibilty and simplicity the people will naturally migrate to it anyway.

Existing BPO's for control towers would need to be traded in for the equivalent BPO's for the modular components (CPU core, Power core, Shield core etc). Re-tasking the existing POS structures such as labs etc would be unnecessary, they would just anchor to the replacement control tower.

The writing is on the wall. POSes are never going to be fixed. Never ever. They will remain in their current state until scrapped. The mobile structures coming out are the first effects of the Devs experimenting with code that will eventually replace POSes in functionality... which, in truth, makes it a little weird that many of them are designed specifically to interfere with the POS systems. On the other hand, their existence means that you can probably take it for granted that the same moon mining mechanics will exist in the mobile modular deployable starbase system, whenever it comes out.
