...no information on why there is such a discrepancy between overview icons for player and NPC destroyers? Or is it just not an easy thing to explain?

At one time they proposed exactly this. I don't remember the exact setup, but it gave a unique shape/size icon to each ship class.

Judging by the furor on the forums, you'd think they'd have proposed stabbing everyone's mother in the eye. I have no idea why there was so much hate for that idea. Seemed like a good one to me, but trying to appease the EVE playerbase is like trying to pet a 'roided wolverine while wearing mittens made of steak.

I put this question in General Discussion because there seemed to be some official presence here, and it didn't really seem to fit under "Ships & Modules", or "Features & Ideas" or the like. Was I mistaken?

I think that symbol is not cruiser-size but actually somewhere between cruiser and frigate, but I'm not certain. I'll have to look a little closer.

Would be nice if battlecruisers could have a symbol somewhere between cruiser and battleship size.

So no one can explain why destroyers do not use consistent overview iconization, nor tell me under which forum heading I'd be better off asking this question in order to garner an actual, informative, perhaps even official response. I see.
