The landing page for the New Eden Open II is now live. Head on over here to check it out!

Please be aware that you only need to sign up if you intend to start your own team to invite people into. Once a team has been created, you only need to accept the invite sent by the captain to be placed on that team.

In the previous NEO, it was possible for teams to declare a sponsor, which appeared in promotional materials and the collectible cards afterwards.
Could you make this the case this year? Currently, there appears to be no such option in the team creation interface.

I still am wondering why a silent auction?

A draw for all spots is the only fair way to do this.
Everyone would then have an equal chance to compete.

The way it is, the richer nullbears groups can guarantee their entry and no one else will have a fair chance of competing.

Wouldnt it be better with a fair system that gave equal chance for good pvpers, nullbears and highsec dwellers alike to enter and not just the same old groups of cashed up bears we have seen in previous tornys?

We are still looking at that option for this year. Last year there was little participation in that program and therefore we did not set out with doing it again this year. We will however consider it depending on how signups go and if there are multiple requests from the competitors about it.

There will be a draw for 3 spots out of all entrants. The reason why we do an auction is to guarantee that people are serious with competing. This is unfortunately done out of necessity since some groups feel like it is fun to throw matches, try to game the system and act unsportsmanlike. We don't feel that it is fair to other competitors or the viewers to allow those teams to join the tournament with little effort.

Hopefully in the future once the tournament scene evolves and we can offer quality tournaments with a much lower barrier of entry we can identify quality teams that have up until this point not been able to compete and offer them an easy way to join the New Eden Open and other team based tournaments.

1. Will Duality be set up for teams to practice on, like it was with the last AT?

2. Currently we have the ability to remove a member from the team. Will that ability remain in place through the tournament, or only up to a certain point in time (i.e., such as the first weekend).

3. In regards to comments made above regarding the silent auction, I think having a traditional auction is good enough to prove teams are "serious." I know it's unlikely, but I really hope you can reconsider the use of a silent auction and return to a traditional bidding system for the auction.

I believe silent auctions are particularly disadvantageous to the teams that don't have deep pockets and lesser experienced teams, plus there is no accountability in a silent auction. It could be gamed or manipulated or otherwise mishandled by those with nefarious intent and none of the bidders would ever be the wiser for it. This is not to say that anyone in CCP would mishandle the auction - I have total trust in CCP to handle the silent auction fairly - but to point out the fact that silent auctions are inherently questionable by the simple fact that there is no ability for public verification of the final results.

Just my two bytes, for what it's worth!

Are there any restrictions on eligible team names, i.e. length or special signs ?

There are length restrictions on the web signup form but I don't know off the top of my head how long it is. If anything else comes up we'll do what we did with XXXMitty last year and contact you to come up with a short version for display.

Surely you mean what you did with "Conmen's Internet Crime Fighting Force of Mohawk Induced Goggle Wearing Awesomeness." We wondered at the time whether or not the name had a chance of being a few characters beyond the accepted limit and were happy with a slight abridging.

I was trying to input two names - one 17 characters long (including 2 spaces, one dot and one zero), and other one 13 characters long (2 spaces, one zero and one & sign), and both were rejected. So I think the form length is either way too short, or it's a bit short and some special signs are not allowed on top.

Is it possible to sign up with a temporary name and later petition the change of name ? (although that's exactly what I've been trying to avoid by posting here first)

Thanks for the response.

Hi, sorry for the inconvenience our validation message got missing in the development process.

The length restriction for teams' name is 50 characters. But we only allow letters, numbers, spaces and underscore.

I would like to confirm that Asine Hitama‘s team will be part of NEO II.

I have problem signin us in with that name, so can I please get response, what to do in order to sign us?

If I got it correct, we have reserverd spot as a last year's winners.

I would think you still have to sign up on the NEO II website, even if you have a reserved spot.

Also being last years winners, you are pretty vulnerable to metagaming :P. We had an issue where someone basically signed up with our name so that we were unable to use it. Sorted now though!

This is what i see when i open page in IE7.

It seems there is something broken when opening the site in different browsers. Firefox, Chrome etc. works, IE (at work) doesnt and shows some "old" data. Thats really weird.

Hmm that's the ATXI schedule... I'm gonna guess something to do with your work's firewall.
