crash in launcher

hi
since the last patch on 08-01, my client is not running because launcher is not updating successfully with patch

i pasted the error appearing in the following link:

Yeah before downtime Eve worked well afterwards when launching it starts the launcher then freezes saying ´launcher.exe is not responding´.

i'm still trying to figure out how a patch that supposedly only added what, 5 items to the market ended up tanking the launcher?

Makes you think what else they changed...stealth nerf/buff's FTW!

I found the solution for the problem above. All you have to do is run exefile.exe in Eve online/bin folder, and when game client will turn on, it'll ask you to download the patch. I hope it'll help.

nop it didnt, it will download, but it wont fix the problem

Exefile.exe makes me able to play again but the way over the launcher still doesnt work.

Mine finally patched after the 3rd try. However, it took ages for the mere 12mb download. Then it kept getting hung up all over. Not sure what it was about this patch, but something was definitely amiss. What all else did you guys patch today (CCP)? It couldn't be all this trouble just from adding a handful of items to the market.

All we ask for as your paying customers is that you communicate stuff. Especially when you change things. If it was some asundry list of backend changes, atleast just say 'and random backend stuffz'. Thats a fair point better than saying nothing at all.

If the EVE Launcher is crashing, could you check to see if a crash dump is being generated and file it in a bug report, if it is. Instructions can be found here: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_Launcher_Issues_and_Workarounds#EVE_Launcher_Crashes_When_Attempting_to_Run

I found only many AppHang_launcher.exe xxxxx directories with a report.wer file in each that your bug application didnt allow me to attach (incorrect fileformat)...I made a bugreport now with the launcherlog-file of today and the windows error-showing.

Launcher freezing repeatedly (won't patch or let me do anything, when i click on it it freezes and i get the windows message to kill the app)

No crashdump found anywhere in windows as according to instructions about the dump files.

Search showed numerous folders named AppHang_launcher.exe_c6a0fe5a3a9e5d897cc28a7320d047bd14dd6cb9_19060270 etc etc containing a report.wer file, but the launcher is not working anyway so i can't file that


EDIT: I ran the exefile.exe located in the bin folder inside the EVE folder. It told me a new version is available etc etc... it downloaded stuff, some OK OK NEXT steps later the launcher launched itself and is workingAttention (seems sluggish in validating and creating the patch file but better than crashing right?).
Launcher lost all of its settings apparently (and any stored usernames) but its working fine Smile

Was having the same problem but running '\CCP\EVE\launcher\cache\updater.exe' fixed my launcher & then the patch would download.

I have deliberately developed an air of cynicism that I originally intended to make me appear somewhat louche and caddish but actually comes across as irritable hostility combined with the unspoken threat of sudden violence.....

I was having the same issue, too. I could get into the game by bypassing the launcher, and I was able to successfully install the last two patches, but the launcher was still broken. There was no crashdump file being created. In addition to the line quoted above, I got the additional info "WARNING:backend_impl.cc(1946)] Destroying invalid entry." Running repair.exe would install patches, but not fix the launcher issue. I didn't have the updater file that Vincent mentioned. Luckily I found this thread and used the generic patcher which downloaded a launcher update and fixed the problem.

Came back to game today, downloaded the game installer and voila, a broken launcher on a fresh install, ran that file and now launcher works fine.

Day 1 and launcher doesn't work. Wellcome back to eve online.
