Faction standings.

Heya,

one of the better ways for a new capsuleer to earn ISK without sitting in a tradehub seems to be collecting faction tags and selling them.

I was wondering, as my standings towards the faction I'm going against in the mission gets lowered, is there any other consequences than getting attacked by that faction police if I enter their space, and also I am unable to dock on their stations at that point too?

I might be uninformed, but I dont find many reasons to go into other factions space at the time being other than different coloured background nebulae, so in the end it does not matter all that much? It does not matter if it cuts me off from some mission chains as I propably wont be doing those anyway, I'm just finding my self a simple way of making some ISK and then start burning it on some cute PvP attempts.

In general, NPC stations will always let you dock, no matter how your standings are (FW space / FW members are the exception).

Other then being KoS by empire Navy with low standings (-5.0 or lower), you are also excluded from higher level missions if your faction standing is -2.0 or lower, even if your NPC corp level is high enough for it.

How Faction standings affect you, really depends on what you want to do in EVE and maybe if you join a corporation.

Say, you join a corp in Caldari space and you are KoS with Caldari, this will kind of prevent you from flying with your corporation.

Another example, you are an exploration guy, you will have to move around a lot to find signatures, being KoS for 1 or 2 factions will limit the systems you can scan.

Yet another example, maybe you will have to cross / base out of a system in high-sec for your PvP endeavours and being KoS with the owners of said system can make that a little bit harder.

Last example, a hauler and being KoS isn't a good match.

Thanks, I was wondering if there's maybe some hidden thing coming to haunt me later on through poor standings, but it sounds quite straightforward as I thought it would be.

Pirate factions will probably hate you if you have good empire faction standings. Use a clean alt if you want to run their missions and epic arcs.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

You will eventually, if only to get LP from a different corp to have access to different modules or navy ship BPC's. Negative standing is not a huge problem especially since you can fix a lot of it by doing the SoE epic arc once in a while.

Yes, but you can always do missions for pirate NPC's even with -10 standing. Problem is you'll be limited to a single level 1 agent and you'll have to grind your way up with level 1 missions. It took me about 5-6 days to go from -6 standing to getting level 4's, so it's possible - it's just not fun.

It can be a big problem if you live in whs and have to make a run because you never know where you might have a k space (known space) enterence which leads many people to use or crate alts to move things. But that is an example, as j'poll said it depends on what you want to do in Eve if mission into is your thing then you are fine.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post
