A thorax with only it's blasters and an MWD has all of twenty four seconds more cap, and much, much less range. (25+5 vs 6.3+8.4 using Scorch and Null respectively, since those are both t2 long range ammunition). The Thorax also has one less low for tank/magstabs. It's also slower than the longer ranged Omen. Why would anyone fly Gallente?

Not every ship needs to be identical.

No, the Omen is slower than the Thorax. The Thorax is more used because you will not have to maintain the MWD when the target will be webbed and scrambled. The Omen will not apply as much DPS at close range than the Thorax.

....Thats because the omen is not designed to apply as much DPS at close range.

You realize that you pulse an MWD? and with the omens range projection, its easy for a thorax to overshoot its approach. A good omen pilot will not let a thorax get close and will use the attackers inflated mwd mass to his advantage through pulsing his own mwd and preventing a thorax pointing him.

IMO AVOIDING getting caught in amarr is easier than catching as gallente.

Thorax with all Vs, just the guns and a 10mn MWD II will do 1958. Omen with all Vs, just the guns and a 10mn MWD II will do 2010.

2010 is a bigger number than 1958, thus the omen is a faster moving ship. With the MWDs off, the thorax is a grand total of six m/s faster.

Now, how does a slower moving, short ranged ship come out better than a faster, longer ranged one? Guess who's going to get kited in a scrap between those two?

Skills, train them. Everything is fine after that.
Amarr is skill intensive race, but pays off after you do it right.

Personally I'm getting 2028 out of the Thorax, not 1958. He got the same number, so that's 2 saying one thing and only you preaching 1958. I'm wondering where you got your number.

EFT.

However, it turns out I was using my skills for the thorax, not all Vs. Apparently I'm dumb. My apologies.
