I would try a LML corax or rail corm personally for the increased range. Not sure what your fitting skills are like but you will probably want to use an AB. Don't worry too much about a "perfect" fit since either should have the dps, even if you have to drop a weapon slot or whatever. If you do go with the rail corm make sure you have some antimatter for close range work.

Did that mission in a Tristan with max drone skills. Killed all the things.

Assuming you are new.

Corax will be the easist to use. It has great range with light missiles.

When I did it the first time I used a railgun fit Catalyst (Algos didn't exist yet).

On my minmatar alt I used an autocannon Thrasher (Talwar didn't exist yet).

I lost a fast atron at the second stage trying to do a run-n-gun...got webbed and dead Oops

But, I went back with a vexor and a bunch of hobgoblins, the drones never touched me, I sat at 30k and let my drones do the work...lost a couple, but better than pod goo! I don't think the drones even fired at me.

Thanks for the tip.

SOOO, I have two choices in the two classes.

For the cheap and cheerful Destroyer the Corax, or the Cormorant

And for the more capable but more expensive Cruiser the Caracal or the Moa.

Then for either I have the fittings. I'm currently skilled in both hybrid rails, and small misslies.

Amarr if you dont lol

My Gallente and Winmatar armada is going to have to disagree with that.

With my missile skills and drone skills to gether my choices are the Corax and Caracal, I can fire at range of about 40km and 60km on drones to do the dirty work and ususally it works out really good that way. Just an idea to consider. Pirate

I don't understand your post. With that, you just display that you're supporting the idiotic idea of upgrading to a bigger ship every time something gets more complicated.

This.

The immediate jump to "you need a bigger ship" is a fools gambit. You are likely struggling with enough SPs to make a frigate half- assed effective... much less a cruiser. If you move to fast into the bigger boat you're just going to end up with a big, slow, weak hog that punches no more effectively than your frigate or destroyer... and you are going to spend a large percentage of your ISK for the pleasure.

Play the game on your terms.

Just buy a frigate, put an afterburner on it, and set keep at range outside of their webifier ability.

You'll need some guns with optimal range above 10km or so... preferrably out to 20km. I used an Amarr Tormentor with Radio S. Worked like a charm. Took a little time, but hey...
