If this was compatible with EVE, our internet spaceship game would be just a wee bit more immersive. "EVE is real" and all that.

For some of the more advanced flight sims or FPS shooters it would be great. I have over 150 keybinds mapped in my favorite combat flight sim. It would be great to look at a flap control rather than remember which 3 key combo makes it extend or retract.

As for EVE, I don't see much use for it, to be honest.

What is your favorite combat flight sim?

Sorry OP, this is much more interesting to me. Lol

I must say, to me this sounds like a product looking for an audience.

Eve used to support TrackIR, a head tracking product. It was thrown out years ago because *nobody* used it. The problem with this is the same problem the eye tracking has. WHat do you want to do with it? You're looking at a monitor two feet away. If you turn your head or flick your eyes even slightly, you're facing away from the monitor.

All that either of these technologies really tell you if the user is looking at the screen or not.

What do you want to do with this information?

Yeah, I use TrackIR for flight sims but can't think what I would use it for in EVE.

With the Oculus Rift (probably) becoming a massive hit I don't see eye tracking like that really work out.

Yup.

An oldie but one of the best.

As I think about it though, it would take some hardcore algorithms to enable eye tracking on top of my Track IR. But if it could be done efficiently I'd be all over it. Since I already use a TIR, HOTAS, rudder pedals, and headset, I'd not even notice another piece of kit.

Sure, it would be great for sims. And since we're talking kit... http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showpost.php?p=301053&postcount=50

This will happen, right after Eve becomes compatible with Motion Capture Controls.

That was (sadly) the gut feeling I had.

Still, it "may" be useful for multi-monitor setups to quickly, say, lock a target or activate a module. Just glance at the second (third or fourth) screen, it does what you need and glance back to the primary screen.
