I have no problem with this being implemented in some form. What you are really asking for is a siege module for a super-awesome mining ship. Siege modules make Dreadnaughts god-like in their damage potential...but you have to sit there in a belt with your "Mining Module II" active. You can't move. You can't warp.

Something similar to the bastion module which requires no fuel but makes you invulnerable to RR and prevents movement for 60 seconds.

Yes. Eat rock, siege, chomp rock, store rocks, unsiege. Repeat process until full.

gonna put a rough concept about it:

-BS sized hull

-1 highslot, one for an strip miner

-7 mids (for tanking, no bonuses as the skiff/proc)

-5 lows (for the 3 MLUs, damage control AND the "Prospection Module")

-cannot be used in high sec, nor low sec, only null sec....maybe WH space

-3 large rigs hardpoints

-can dock at stations and can use gates

- role bonus 50% reduction in stripminer cycle time

-5% increase in mining yield per lvl

-10000 m3 ore hold

-600 m3 cargobay

-75 dronebay and drone bandwidth

-can fit Prospection Mining Modules

about the module:

the prospection mining module works the same as the bastion module for marauders, allows the stripminer to increase its harvesting capabilities, but leaves the ship inmobile, while giving survival capabilities.

-60s cycle

-100% increase in mining yield

-increased mining range for strip miners

-increase targeting range

-the rest of the bonuses related to defense are equal to those of the bastion module

-uses a low slot

i used a lowslot for this module because i dont want people to exploit using 2 strip miners in the ship in the case it would be 2 highslots.

the ship is designed to be subpar to exhumers and mining barges, since they have specialized role, the role of the prospection ship is to use its siege module to gather large quantities of ores, BUT, requires the support of a capital industrial ship. this means that either an orca or a rorqual should be on field to support it. or it would have to do jetcanning.

that's why i put a reduction in cycle bonus

Mining dreadnought: can shoot enemy POS and score minerals while shooting, also can field 5 mining fighters for defense which can shoot enemy players for the same DPS as fighters but takes minerals from the players' ships as it shoots them. Can fit siege module to boost mining laser and fighter DPS by 800%. After player ships die, mining fighters salvage them automatically. Has utility high for fitting capital tractor beam and can tractor asteroids from across the system at low warp speeds to the dreadnought and eat them while firing lasers at the POS.

Make it happen, CCP.

The idea behind it is actually not that far off. Though i think we need larger mining ships that have the size of a BS/carrier. Lets be honest here it literally takes ages to get industrial lvl5 in nullsec then it takes to get military up to lvl5. I blame the limited mining yield for this.

I agree with Malcanis' view on this: rather than bigger mining ships, what we need is more low-end minerals from high-end ore. People mining outside of highsec should mine faster in the same ships.

oh yes please,

let me suck up one of these huge Ark/bistot-rocks of those giant belts in 0.0, to just crunch it slowly while I'm sitting in a pos.

Let's make mineral prices plummet!

You still have to get the orre to high sec to sell it don't you? Now lets stop and think for a second. Mining corps will be decing eachother for belt rights and mercs will most likley get involved. Gates will be monitored hourly for major transportation. Take old man star for example, it's notorious for camping. Now add a market bending resourse to the faction and pvp will be through the roof. Miners will be the new primary. OR we could set up our own station just outside lowsec and sell it all for a very high price and bend you to our will. You see, thats what the hand of GOD looks like from the cockpit of a hulk.

OR:

Existing mining-corps would just rent space in 0.0 to mine.

Now take a moment and think which one is more likely. Or better - guess what happens allready! How much miners have you seen fighting over a belt lately, and how many renter-corps are out there, mining their butts off in 0.0 allready?

Anyway, the fact that you mention logistics in such a discussion makes all your arguments invalid, because you clearly have no clue about mining in 0.0.

You should feel bad for not understanding core gampleay mechanics (More Yield = More supply = prices plummet), and for having no clue about mining in 0.0 at all (hint: Logistics is a joke for mining corps).
