Well I wont lie it did make me think, tried to join goonswarm a long time ago, but couldn't get past all the attempted scams and refused to pay to join the SA forums

Curious as The Mitani states any fee's to join is a scam. If your on about greasing peoples palms with the odd iskie that's all well and good. But security deposits, free freighter services etc are well known scams.

Go big or go home!

I figure why join a smaller corporation with less security within the alliance and probably less active members, when you can just try and join the largest.

Corps come and go, but 3k+ members is a lot of people who have to jump ship before it dies.

I'd also assume some smaller fun ops, frigate ops etc might just be waffe only corp ops - cant be sure of this just a assumption.

From what I've read on The Mittani, GSF don't exclude the non GW corps very much at all.
I doubt there would be many roams/ops that only GoonWaffe are allowed access to.
I'm sure it would be easy to make friends with fellow alliance members even if you aren't in the same corp.

GSF seem to have quite a good degree of unity, and I'd guess this is part of what makes them successful.

If you join one of the main GSF corps it's unlikely they'd leave the alliance, but even if they did, if you had become a known FC in the alliance (or made some other known contribution) it seems likely one of the other corps would pick you up.

Now, the much more troubling reasons not to join GSF are TiDi and structure grinds (either shoots or reps).


10% TiDi means that 2 minutes of ingame action takes 20 minutes of real time. Trust me, most fights like this are rather boring.

Structure shoots and reps mean that you have to roam out, sometimes for over an hour, to either shoot or repair a structure and not get to engage any enemies.
