Hello, all.

I've been thinking over the capacity for players to choose their own NPC corps.

I know players can choose which starter corps they enlist in upon making a new character, but I'd like the see players given the option of choosing the NPC corps they end up in after leaving either their starter corps, a player corps, or faction warfare. I can see this working well to develop a character's background, or if a particular NPC corps becomes undesirable and players would rather avoid it (but without making their own corps).

In my case, I'm a "defector." I was born Caldari, and joined the State War Academy. However, my dissatisfaction with Caldari politics forced me to become a dissenter, and eventually, I fled the State. I then "enlisted" (insomuch as I can) in the Federation Naval Academy (by completing their starter missions) and am now working (running missions) for the Federation Navy in hopes of improving my standing enough to join the Gallente Militia (I'm only 0.07 short!).

However, I'd like to be able to actually join either the Federation Naval Academy and/or a Gallente NPC corps after my service in the Gallente Militia, a corps like the University of Caille (not The Scope, however, since I've seen firsthand that it's become full of, well, people I'd rather not fly with). As it stands now, if I choose to leave the Gallente Militia, I'd be returned to a Caldari NPC corps. But, realistically, after defecting to an enemy and then serving in an opposing military, how open would the Caldari be to accepting a traitor back into their ranks?

Mechanically, it might make sense to give players this option only if their standing towards the given empire or even the corps of their choosing is positive.
