Bitter vet here to talk standings and how much (or little ) they mean now.

Standings with NPC corps had a massive effect on newbs years ago. Missions, refine rate, and clones (not to mention POS set ups) had to consider them. As a new player (long ago) I was encouraged to build standings as a right of passage. True fact that some corps (not even RP) would let you join if you had low standings with the prefferred faction.

You were encouraged to gain the empire's favor if you wanted to seek its bounty. (e.g. If you wanted CN ballistic controls you needed to work forone of the corps within the State ) So to that end at some point CCP created the LP Store. I think it was a step forward as agent offers were too unpredictable. Things went well and LP became a valued item that rewarded loyalty to a particular faction at one level, nut also to particular corporations.

Case in point: Say you wanted to build favor within the Caldari State so that you could manufacture Caldari Ballistic Controls. It would not enough that you had high Cakdari Navy standings. You had to find a corporation within The State that offered that item. Then Build standings with them.

Only Then could you build that item. Made sense to me on many levels. I could never think of trading in my LP for Gallente webs or Minnie Tracking enhancers.

Then came Sansha Incursions & CONCORD LP

WTF!!!!???

Grinding standings? Why?

I can just blast Sansha (or rep those who do) and and be rewarded DAMNED NEAR EQUAL by any faction I choose (other than SOE) Sounds GREAT!

Please fix this.

Be careful what you think, for your thoughts become your words. Be careful what you say, for your words become your actions. Be careful what you do, for your actions become your character. And character is everything. - author unknown

doesnt mean it doesnt need to be complained about

when incursions first came out, and again after they were "rebalanced" they are so static and easy to farm that they blow the water out fo even lowsec lvl 5's with absolutely zero risk.

incursions have NO balancing factor, the way they exist is pure circumvention of any meaningful grind for quick isk.

IMO sansha need to cut their losses and stop invading highsec altogether, keep incursions in lowsec/null, and thats it.

"Back in my day we didn't have these fancy 'cars' to get to work, we had to walk barefoot uphill in the snow, both ways!"

The less time I have to spend in EVE's PvE, the better. Regardless of whether that's for a specific item or just pure liquid isk. Hell, incursions may have even been harmful to CCP's PLEX income because those of us who don't want to have EVE as a job can earn our needs in a few days work instead of selling PLEX.

The need for standings hasn't changed at all. Back In The Day(tm), if you could've magically conjured some LP, you didn't need standings to use it. You still need the same standings as before to accomplish all those things you mention, including the ridiculous 8.0 for use of meatbag creation stations.

Blanking signatures doesn't seem to work, so this is here.

Which is something that literally nobody needs to do.

I'd like CCP to remove NPC buy orders for navy tags, they are an artificial floor that keeps tag requirements unrealistically high in the LP stores resulting in prohibitively expensive cost price for alot of stuff like guns & launchers.

And increase COSMOS drops to make half of the COSMOS items worth building :)

Not wishing to sound like a **** but it's Rites of Passage BTW.

What would be nice is if CCP made resources and/or items available only to players with the standings that are high enough for that faction. A station that is only dockable to players with say 8.0 or better. Agents who give missions to players with 9.0 or better. Research or invention queue priority based upon standings. The guy the has a 9.99 with Caldari State SHOULD be able to get faction ammo and other supplies at a discounted rate as compared to the player that has a -1 standing with that faction. Open up hi sec space to POS anchoring for corps wwith high enough standings(.8 standings of 8 or better, .9 standings of 9 or better, 1.0 standings of 10). Reward the player with high standings, make PVE mean something.

My point was about how easy it is to get around the 8.0 standings requirement for a jump clone.

You say zero risk but accidents sometimes happen involving accidentally fitting ECM to my logi boat instead of reps... Oops

And you can get around anything you need LP for (except perhaps implants) by using a manufactured or looted version of the item too. May not be as good, may not be as cheap, but hey, you don't need it.

Standings with NPCs should be removed as a whole.

If you disagree, you're wrong.

Remember that Rubicon supposed to be first step to free capsuleers from empires' reign so maybe, just maybe, at some point you will just be able to go about your business without grinding for standings. I guess at this point you won't be able to do anything in empire space but hey, no standings grind :)

The idea about needing a high standing to use the items is...unpleasant, let's say.
But it's true that if the standings are not meaningless it would be nice if they were more significant.

The downside of anything that makes standings a requirement for faction mod use is it will make "balanced standings " optimal and faction war which kills standing balance will die.
