Sort of the went to school uphill, both ways, barefoot, in the snow sort of thing, BUT....

Back in the day, there was no skill queue. You actually had to manage your skills to end on a day AND TIME when you'd be available to load up the next skill for training. Imagine how much SP a lot of the older players would have if we always had the current skill queue and not missed all those times when a skill inconveniently ended!

TL;DR and point of the story, the way it is now is perfectly fine. You just need to learn to manage your skill training time better.

@ OP:This has been suggested ages ago.

Probably the best idea would be to get rid if the need to set skills, instead allow us to accumulate SP, then I can apply the allocated SP whenever I feel I want to log in, like Perpetuum does.
You are one hell of a genious. This obviously very well thought out idea will completely change the landscape of the game. I can already see it. Thousands of players will storm the game, because they don't even need to log in anymore to skill up. Clearly, this is the future of EVE ONLINE and all MMOs on the market! I can't imagine why this isn't industry wide standard yet.

You, sir, deserve a medal!

Let's force our already subbed players to login to set a skill every other day, it will make them play, even though they are already paying customers-Genius idea.

If I want to log in to set a skill, that's all I do.
You really ARE a genious!
People who HAVE to log in suffer from a statistical chance of possibly staying logged in and they might actually undock! There's a chance of them staying logged in because of such a possible conversation that catches their attention! Or because of somebody else they know being logged in at that given moment! That would boosts the numbers of people online! How stupid and irrelevant! You are soooo right! Absolutely! Obviously CCP has no idea and absolutely no base for having it work like it's now! You ARE a genious!

Stop sarcastically calling me a genius because the idea comes from another MMO not from me. Roll

You have not tried both systems, I HAVE. Accumulated SP is way better IMO.You don't need to plan on the fly what you need to train, you can plan skills whenever you want. Who does not like having millions in SP allocated to spend on skills when you want or need them, just when you are ready to log in?

MMOs have come a long way from 10 years ago when CCP decided to do the skill training mechanics, on the of chance players might stay online, but that are only statistics, that doesn't create more subs. No one likes mundane tasks forced on them.

BTW it's easier training multiple accounts and the easier they are to skill up there is a greater chance players will have more. Big smile

Edit: Think outside the box, and what the customer wants Mr . Genius

Actually, I want to be able to earn ISK while I'm away as well.

Can't we also add a feature to allow me to program my ships, so they autopilot while I'm away. Surely in New Eden I can program my ships ahead of time and have the crew carry out my orders while I sleep in my pod, do some learning and watch porn.

Maybe we could also add in the ability for my PI extraction to be automatically restarted once the program expires.

And since I really only PvP, can we somehow program that as well. Can I have my ships automatically sent into systems to PvP, but only if I won't lose.

Hell, screw it. Just give us all a bot that we can use to remotely play the game through a browser and never have to login.

Give us now CCP. I pay money god dammit.

It's the holidays, the chesnuts are roasting on the open fire -- always somebody leaving their nuts in the fire, but anyway.

Share those special moments and make great memories with the family. Raise a glass to the New Year.... and set a long skill.

Yes, it's that easy. Cheeershhh.

Someone would 0.01 me in no time. Then they get upped (or downed depending on buying or selling) and then the next and the next and the next. Suddenly, no AFG (away from game) ISK earnings.

Oh, so you mean I haven't made any isk in the last week while playing another game

*panics and logs in.....or something*

On topic....If I forget to train (and I do, regularly, even when logged in), its more *meh* than anything. But, if you are someone who always has to have something training, and you take a day or two off a 30d skill once in a while, then that is hardly a problem is it?

Buy Items cheap,
Sell them higher and leave the order for a month or 3
Look at wallet

People look at market as short term isk. its not. You place the order and wait. the more orders you place, the more get sold quicker. you just need to find the right market area.
