The US Superbowl is coming up, and will be a guarantee of future players seeing the game. With the Superbowl being one of the largest audiences many (more specifically US) people see, I figured this could be an opportunity for CCP to make their brand known. I wasn't sure if CCP would consider financing a commercial during that time but figured I'd put the idea out there. The average cost of a commercial during the superbowl, is $4 million for a 30 second spot.

To help with the amount of people that will see the commercial, I will quote from the Nielsen website:

Quote:
According to Nielsen, Sunday's (February 3, 2013) telecast of Super Bowl XLVII on CBS drew an average audience of 108.7 million viewers. The game, in which the Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers 34 to 31, was viewed in 53 million homes and had a 46.4 U.S. household rating.

Reasons as to why it would or wouldn't be a good idea, or even feasable, would be appreciated.

Would you rather that CCP spend millions of dollars on developing EVE, or millions of dollars on a commercial slot and then millions of dollars on a commercial for that slot?

If you pay for it i am sure CCP will slap some video together to make your dreams come true.

If you look at past precedent, CCP clearly values retention of current players over mass solicitation of new players, really it worked quite well for them because as far as I'm aware EVE has one of the best player retention rates of any mmo. This means income is reliable and not prone to disappear.

Placing a super bowl ad would just serve to lure in new players whom the majority of which would probably quit in the first 5 minutes of gameplay because that's not really the kind of audience that's attracted to this kind of game. A super bowl ad would be more effective for a game like World of Warcraft or Halo where the target audience's attention span is shorter and prone to be less technical.
