Corp and Faction Standings

I've done a ton of missions for Caldari Navy. I'm currently at +9.29 with Caldari Navy (corp), and at -2.92 with Gallente Federation (empire).

1) Is ease of travel the only reason to maintain higher than -5.0 standing with empire factions? Is there any reason I would want to improve my -2.92 with Gallente? Are epic mission arc rewards worth the time it takes to repair faction/corp standings to the point that the arcs are offered, or are the arcs just a nice change of pace and background story?

2) Are mission rewards the only reason to keep improving standings with a specific corp? Is there any reason to keep improving my +9.29 with Caldari Navy? If there isn't, when did my standing "max out", or when should I have stopped?

3) Is there any reason to increase pirate faction standings?

1. Ease of travel is basically the reason. But there are other reasons which you may feel are important - access to their agents above Level 1 wont be possible until you get above -2.0 and you won't be able to join the Gallente Militia.

2. There are certain levels of rep that are good to aim for: 6.67 gives you 0% refining tax in their stations and 8.0 allows use of their clone bays to create new clones. Above that there is no need to keep increasing it.

3. If you go to live and mission in NPC null sec, increasing Pirate faction standing is important, they are the only agents out there. Running missions for Pirate factions can be quite lucrative especially the Angels as they provide some of the best faction ships in the game. However, the best source of mission income IMO is Faction Warfare missions in low sec. This is because their Loyalty Stores give huge discounts on the normal cost of Faction Navy ships and they are the only place you can get Navy Cap Boosters (Charges) which sell like rocking horse manure.

Or, you could simply not accept the story-line missions and missions which require you so shoot at other factions anymore. If you do that, standings will never be an issue again.

Personnally I don't see the point in getting yourself locked out of a big chunk of highsec, and remember if you ever choose to repair your standings, it's going to be a major grind to do all those lev 1's to even get nuetralShocked

I find that doing the low faction's career agent missions to be a pretty quick way to raise your standings.

Epic Arcs give a large Faction standing increase with little to no derived standings, positive or negative, towards the other Factions.

The only stipulation is the lv 3 and lv 4 arcs require Faction above -2.00 standing for access.

If you're looking to repair negative Faction standings, check out the 'Plan'.
