Is there a safe place to put plex, i just had my ship destroyed when i jumped into a deserted facility, sector was 0.8 so i thought it would be safe, about a minute after i got there about 15 ships fired on mine...it was almost instantaneous. Lost the cargo and the plex, so where else can i put it.

Your hangar in any station. That is not the same as your ship's cargo.

Don't redeem the PLEX until you're at the place that you want to either sell it or apply it to your account. There is no reason to undock with a plex in your hold, ever.

Simple...

NEVER EVER carry a PLEX in your ship. There is NO reason to do it.
You first fly to station you need the PLEX in and then, and only then redeem the PLEX.

Did I mention you should NEVER EVER fly around with a PLEX in your ship as it will get you killed.
If not....NEVER do it.

Item hangar and ship cargo are not the same thing. Your (personal) hangar is safe. Your ship cargo is not. If you lost it, it was in your ship cargo, and not your item hangar.

Consider it a close miss if the Plex is in your Item hangar.
And just don't ever, EVER carry more than you need for whatever mission you're on.

Your Items are in the station you started at.
You can find items that have been left in different stations by using the assets tab.

Items don't come with you from station to station unless you bring them with you. Logistics is a pretty big part of Eve. You can check your items in remote stations via the asset window - it looks like a safe on your toolbar.

Time for some little advertising...

As you are clearly very new and at least found the forums (already a +1 for that as most new players dont even know they exist), you might be interested in joining a player controlled unofficial help channel called: EVE Tutors

In that channel are a lot of helpful people who dont mind answering any questions you want to throw at them.

As for the golden ruoes of EVE:

1. Do NOT fly what you cant afford to lose. There is no safe space and people can shoot you anywhere so only undock with a ship/modules/cargo you dont mind losing.

2. Bigger isnt always better. EVE has a system of balancing. A frigate can destrly a much ****** ship if done propely at the hands of someone who knows what he is doing.

3. Be social. Just because someone killed you doesnt mean he is an *******. Contact him and ask in a polite and mature way what happened and how you can improve yourself and prevent it from happening again. 99.9% of the times the killer wont mind helping to get better, because helping you gives him a better target next time.

4. There are no stupid questions besidez the one you didnt ask. Even though it might seem like a stupid question, us veterans likely had the same one once and fou d the answer. No need to reinvent the wheel over and over again.

5. If you redeem an item it goes into your station hangar.

6. Station hangars are safe places to store things. Nobody but CCP can touch the content you have stored in a station. Anything you carry in your ship can be stolen by killing you and hoping the items will drop as loot.

7. Never ever trust anyone. Period. In here scamming and theft is allowed, dont become a victim. Trust has to be earned and should nkt be given out easily.

Items, low value bulky stuff I'd have it moved in an industrial as people typically don't destroy them at low value unless bored.
The closest thing to a post office would be a contract to a Hauler, corps such as Red Frog Freight, can't remember low bulk hauling, Push something.
Collateral set at around the value or the cargo to dissuade theft, and I'm not sure of the going rate per Jump.

For Plex, absolutely not, never ever. really just don't

Edit : J'poll so beat me to the punch Smile

But as posted, Whenever you hit Undock, there is a chance the ship you're in and possibly even your capsule won't return.
But remain cordial & calm if a ship does go bang , yep I've lost a few and the only kill on my board was in error as i fired on the wrong ship during a tracking exersise Oops

Just to emphasize, the reason people are so adamant that you never fly with plex, is it makes you a super juicy target that other players will gang up on "just because." High sec ganking is usually based on isk/loss ratio because it is pure suicide for the attacking ship. Having PLEX in your ship's hold, or worse, multiple plex instantly makes the win/loss in their favor. Plus, killing someone with plex is a braggable event, and your killmail was instantly posted to all their friends in chat, and on whatever boards they wanted to brag on.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

A deserted facility? Sounds like some kind of anom. Losing a PLEX to rats is I think a new low. Never take PLEX to anoms.

If that's the case, you might be able to petition it since you're very new.

it was in one of the beginning areas so i expected it to be safe but when i got there i had a look around for a few min then about 10 blue lasers pointed at me and that was it. I didn't end up losing the plex it was in the station cargo hold when i went to a new station to get a new ship i didn't know the cargo dint move with you so i thought i lost everything.

Im a a day in now and this is one of my favourite games already, its difficult to like space sim since they are mostly underdeveloped and not many live up to freelancer but this game is extremely well thought out, getting used to indirect control of the ship feels a lot like I'm in star trek episode with all the procedures to move around, only thing missing is someone calling out the direction the ship is turning and moving in....that would be a nice voice over along with some crew chatter and banter.

They should make the smaller ships have direct flight control like freelancer for those who like to dog fight, the larger ships are done right i think, they have a good feel in how they move.

They are working on a VR sim for this very thing. It is still in development stage though.
