Cargo hold handling.

I like to keep a few things in my cargo hold.

Mobile Tractor Beam, Mining Crystals and so forth, which I don't want to dump into my base hanger.

Other items such as salvage loot is stuff that I do want to dump into my hangar when I get back to base.

Can we have a facility to have a stock level of cargo hold items?

And those stock items stay in there, until a different configuration is required.

As it is now, I get to fiddle around with clicking through the EVE version of border security, which is always massive fun, but I prefer to be undocking instead.

I can see why you'd want this - topping up ammo for missions or as you say, mining crystals
HOWEVER, this requires less thinking, so I think I'm slightly against it - feel free to try to change my mind

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

Repetition isn't thinking.

Working out what you want, and why, is.

So for my miner I want Mobile Tractor Unit and Mining Crystals.

For your warships you want ammo as you say.

Once that setup is done then EVE shouldn't be trying to extend gameplay by creating more work.

Mistakes that occur like forgetting to stock missiles, could be seen as extra challenge in a game.

But I think EVE should be thinking of how we can, as players, create better challenges than not misclicking while we store items or not.

Cargo hold fit outs could be the next big discussion point.

Toss the items in a can.

For ammo, save your fit with the ammo you want, and use the saved fit to fit your ship and you'll have your ammo topped up for you.

Thanks! And merry DarkspaceMas.

Pipa,

How do I sort the can out? I've never done can mining or whathaveyou.

Ammo sounds an easy option with refitting.

How big are cans?

And it would still leave me with having to do this on redock.

Select can
Invert selection
Drag rest of items into hangar

I can see this working well if it is part of the stored ship fits. The problem would be it would only work with non-singular items - meaning things like partially used mining crystals would likely not work in it properly.

Good point, not sure if there are other consumables like that.

A few things come to mind...

1. A separate container in the cargo hold.

2. Ability to make certain items always stay in the cargo hold at certain levels.

3. Some form of rig or other addon that performs as an item locker.

Probably better ideas out there. Anything that negates the fiddly clicking.

you'll only ever have 3 partially used crystals of each type at a time, and you'll rarely have fully intact crystals when you dock - just set the fitting level of crystals somewhat (3) lower than you actually want - so you keep your half-used crystals and top up your unused stocks....

similar thing for laser faction/T2 crystals

Create item filter to hide items you need to keep in ship. They were created just for that reason, also they are configurable and flexible.

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks.

How do they work?

I want to be able to see what's in my cargo hold. Mostly for making sure I picked up the Mobile Tractor Unit before I warp off.

Would the filter hide it?

The tractor unit by itself is reasonable, I Select it, Invert Selection, then click and drag all the salvage etc. to the hangar.

But I'd also like to have various other bits in there, like mining crystals, probably in various states of decay.

Would these work with filters?

Just an example of how filters work.
This is when no filters selected: http://clip2net.com/clip/m214363/1387978604-clip-152kb.png
This is excluding ammo and items that i take with me on missions (with example of filter): http://clip2net.com/clip/m214363/1387978718-clip-183kb.png

Pressing CTRL+A will not select filtered out items so they will be left in cargo. When you need to replenish ammo, crystals etc. - just create reverse filter to show only needed items and switch between filters when needed.

And this won't mess around with things like looting or market searches for the same items?

Item filters have nothing to do with markets (but you can create filter to show only meta3-4 items and salvage for quick sell, and reprocess the rest). Also filters will work for looting containers if you move loot manually. "Loot all" button loots all regardless of filter.

And can I set the filters to change with each ship?

I only want mining crystals in the Mackinaw for example, in a mission ship they would be useless.

You leave the stuff you want to keep around in the can (Name it something nice). Cans are by default sorted to (nearly) the top of your item hanger in grid mode.

There are different sized cans.
