What was the gift you talk about?

go check out the 2011 gifts.

Wasn't that the year they gave us the Echelon?

The only people whining are the more experienced players. 3 months in and I'm extremely grateful that CCP pulled this off because 75% of the items were useful to me:

- Leopard (20 AU/s? My God... Shocked)
- Hammerhead I x25
- couple outfits that equate to ~24 million ISK
- Expanded Probe Launcher II
- Miner II
- Mining Laser Upgrade II
- Relic Analyzer II
- Proteque 'Prospector' Astrometric Rangefinding AR-802 implant
- Prototype Cloaking Device I

Awesome stuff all around. Have this 'Fedo' thing that people on the forums are obsessed about, but I'll probably just dump that, the festival launcher, and the snowballs, though.

Thanks, CCP!

If I ever saw CCP Falcon's character in real life I think I'd politely ask him to kick my ass just so I could brag about it.

What's this now?
You'd be hard-pressed to find a bitter-er bittervet than me. And I'm complaining about people complaining, not about the free stuff the Devs gave us. Check yo'self.

lol, no. I'm not trying to make a blanket statement about EVE veterans, but just try to find a rookie that will sit there and complain about the stuff he got. For free. From the game designers. For free. Hell, I'm sitting on some brand new Tech II gear that I don't have the skills to use (yet).

Don't know why people are complaining. The shuttles are genuinely useful for shuttling back and forth rapidly between 2 hisec points, e.g. trade hubs or staging areas. As opposed to say, a kaalkiota heron or a sarum magnate.

Also, I got a few t1 cloaks from my randomized presents and 50 ecm drones across my characters. Seems practical and useful.

It's really the younger folks that started playing AFTER the first couple rounds of awesome gifts. I think everyone is still kind of high on the Gnosis, and expects better gifts, now. Which is why I came up with the idea of "no more gifts".
The *real* bittervets remember back when "oh, cool.... free bonus remap" was a common phrase throughout the playerbase on Christmas Day... most of those guys are saying "can we just stop getting gifts if people are going to act like this?".

This is just a game, after all. Who cares if people want to complain on a forum about a game, isn't it even more sad that you're upset and complaining about people posting complaints on a forum about a game? Better gifts would have been ammo depending on your race, remaps, or some unallocated SP. I have as much right to complain about free stuff in a video game as you have to complain about me complaining, but in the end it's a game and you just shouldn't care so much as to start a thread dedicated to your butthurt over a video game.

crappy gifts

To sum up EVE, it's primary a game where the object is to push your opponents over, sit on their heads, and feed them metaphorical punches until their teeth fly out. Secondarily, it's a environment geared toward competitive commerce (rampant, opportunistic capitalism), whether that's mining, manufacturing or other scientific pursuits.

The notion of complaining about receiving anything for free isn't something that should ever pop into an EVE player's mind. You kids have been spoiled with free shuttles and implants and bling (tugs on his shirt) for far too long. If your holiday gift was a pulse laser up the arse, that would be something you should have a giggle about and be thankful for.

Crappy gifts. Yeesh.

Back in 2003, we got a lossmail (back when it was actually a mail) for Christmas, and we were happy to get that much.

Rofl those are the Younger folks the ones who say "oh, cool....free bonus remap"

6-7 years Ago CCP only gift for X-mas was the single low and humble snowball launcher... and for years all the old Bitter vets chanted on X-mas coming was plz plz gentle CCP gives us Snowball Launchers again..

Then last year CCP gave it away and all Hell broke loose with all the spoiled childrens asking for more and more.... until today.

P.S: on an unrelated noted wasn't the Gnosis a 10 years celebration giveaway ship?

Ah, gotcha. But man, a free bonus remap? That's insanely awesome. Hell, I'm giddy over the Leopard, though Lol

Ah, well. You got in-game items with no strings attached whether you're new or have been playing since the beta. As usual, people misguidedly think they have the right or are entitled to complain. Makes me wonder how many of the whiners are fellow Americans *activates hate shield*

Let's face it man.... most of them. I am pretty sure we're the only country that does "trophy for showing up, even if you lost".
And I almost died, hundreds of times for these sorry ingrates.

It's a double-edged sword, in my opinion. Naturally, I can't really put together an analogy that accurately follows my line of thought, but, in essence, it's when people start demanding that participation medal or complain that "It sucks" that pisses me off.

Should CCP have given out these gifts? Did they absolutely need to? No, not at all. You may have the freedom to ***** and moan, but you don't have the right.

Also, may I ask during what years you were on active service?

You could ignore them.

You could block them.

You could not read their posts/threads.

You mean like their expansions and patches and continued dedication to improving the game?
The only thing your subscription obligates them to provide is an account on their server with which to play the game. There's no contractual requirement for them to do any development or iteration at all.

Yes & If they were to not give any NEW content etc then the game would die & it would of done so long ago.

I am sick of hearing this crap from people about how CCP aren't obligated to give the patches or updates so WE the PAYING CUSTOMERS should be grateful that they give them to us for FREE. If CCP wants they can stop giving us FREE patches & make us pay for it, only problem I would think is that they would at the same time lose that many PAYING CUSTOMERS that the game would have to close.
So personally I am not grateful for FREE patches on a game I have to pay $$$ to play in the first place & personally I would of rather not got anything than got the 12 days of crap we got. Seriously a shuttle , 50 x EW drones, 6 crap T1 modules. Funny part about all that is it probably cost players more to redeem that rubbish than they could sell it for on the market either as is or after it was refined.

Are the patches really 100% FREE?
