Hello everyone,

Played EVE a few years ago but couldn't really understand it all (steep learning curve!). Signed up again a few days ago and been working through the tutorials and career agents and I'm getting to grips with it all this time Big smile

I had a quick question about PvP, a pilot was outside the station I was at and the overview icon was yellow with a yellow/black skull marker. They were in a frigate class ship with only one lazer turret fitted. If I attacked them would CONCORD react? or do I need to wait until their overview icon turns red with the flashing skull before freely attacking?

Thanks, hopefully I'll get to grips with understanding things this time around!

You can attack them, yes. But people flashing yellow like that are often there as a trap, so be very careful who you pick a fight with. Once you fire at them they will legally be able to fire back at you.

technically the colors and skulls and such are customizable in the overview settings. By default, the pilot you were seeing was suspect flagged - anyone can attack him without penalty.

Red would indicate a criminal flag. In hisec, this means that CONCORD is on the way. In lowsec, it doesn't mean much that I can think of.

It means you can't dock or jump for awhile Roll

in all honesty its probably a bored veteran player orbiting the station and then when u attack they dock up board a bigger n better ship undock n kick yer behind, no idea why vets find it soo appealing to gank 1,2 day old players new to the game in all honesty but whatever tickles there fancy

If a target is to good to be true it generally is, just go about your own business or attack an try your luck :D

Whoa be careful with that advice, there are two very similar icon/colour bands, one of which you can freely shoot the other you can't, the trouble is everything is customisable, so you need to be sure what that overview is displaying before advising people to shoot them.

1. Suspect flag - this defaults to a yellow band and has a yellow/black skull, this you can freely shoot without concord interference.

2. Pilot has a security status below 0 - this defaults to a yellow band and has a white/black skull - you will get concorded if you shoot this guy.

I went to the effort of posting an overview settings guide in my alliance public section of our forum. It is tailored to FW but explains the workings and is easy to modify after studying.

Suspect flashes, low sec status doesn't on default. Not hard to differ the 2.

Speaking as one of the criminals, with a permanent blinky red flash. In low sec if you see a someone warp into you and they aren't flagged you have very little idea of how they will act. However if you see a blinky red show up you know for certain that you are about to come under fire. I find it to be a bit more honest in the way I play the game. There are no delusions about why I'm there. I'm there to either kill your ship or ransom it.
