Hello.

I have a GeForce GTX 280 which runs EVE Online extremely well when the client is set to performance profile. I've been reading about how Crucible greatly improves the surrounding space nebula and warp travel. Does this mean the system specifications will change as a result?

According to the NVIDEA control panel I have the following:

Dedicated Video Memory 1024 MB
Shared System Memory 3071 MB
Total Available Graphics 4095 MB

I am running on Windows 7

If it does and I need a new video card, I have no problem with that. There are holiday specials at some stores for video cards.

Even if the specs did change, your video card is still way more than adequate to play EVE.

Time for an analogy:

Its like asking if your 500BHP race car has enough power to handle an extra passenger.
Short answer: Yes.

why do i get the feeling you were one of those "my toy is bigger than yours" kid at school Roll

Everytime you buy something that says "made in china" you are helping the rising unemployment in your own country unless you are from china, Buy locally produced goods and help create more jobs.

Jeez man...I have a 265 with half a gig of onboard memory and 16 gigs of ram currently and I run 3 clients on max graphics with no problems. I even waltz around in CQ with all 3 clients just fine.

I don't think you have any reason to worry.

Thank you for your reply, Alyssa.

I thought I had more than enough based on the 4 giga total, but I was told by a friend not to count on shared memory for all graphic games, but to focus instead on video memory.

I'm not. I am not terribly computer-savvy even though I like games. But I see your point.

Taggoth, the system requirements haven't changed, though a joke was made in the Crucible features about CCP being in league with your internet service provider.Big smile It's still 512 MB to 1G for video. Your friend is right when he says never include shared memory as part of your calculation.

Don't worry if you are not up to spec on computers. There are players who are that can answer any questions. Best to ask in case you are uncertain.

CQ didn't seem to affect my computer. I went AFK with it up. One 8800 GTX for the 20 gun salute. Anyway, now I am on a 7300 GT and it manages EVE so I think you should be fine if I can do it. Blink

Edit: It is a 256MB card and not even one of the x600 - X900s. Just an x300.

P.P.S. My alt looks ghastly though! Darn character creator is so laggy and I had trouble clicking and dragging things. Poor thing. I think I shall have to bio her and try again when I have a new card. Sad

CCP - Building ant hills and magnifying glasses for fat kids

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Does CCP offer tokens for re-doing your portrait in case it looks bad? If so, I assume it costs money.
