Unfortunately in EVE PvP is always like that bar a few rare exceptions. Most people won't fight you unless you're outnumbered, the ones who see you in local by themselves run away and the ones that have more than you fight. Occasionally you'll encounter one who fights but then drops a cyno so all his friends can save him since he sucks at solo.

Very rarely you'll find a person, not in a very cheap and pointless frig that will fight you but not often enough to make it worthwhile.

What I do is stick to a few rules, this applies to fighting in expensive ships and against expensive ships:

1. Don't kill people looking for fights (they'll have friends nearby or cyno 99% of the time).
2. Have max dps / min tank. If you can't burn them down quick, having 100k extra ehp won't help you against their friends next door / cyno'd in when you're webbed, scrammed, jammed and nueted.
3. Don't log off in space, stay online in and around the systems you're hunting. People will get used to you. They might jump into system 10 times while you're at work, school, sleep and after you haven't attacked them all those times they'll start to let their guard down, get bored of trying to set you up.
4. Stay in an area for awhile so you get to know it, get to know the people who are active, resident etc. Which ones are ganking, check their killboards, see who they gank with, add them to contacts etc.
5. If you have a locator agent and you're wanting to kill somebody, check their killboard, see who they gank with, get your agent to check but don't pay the agent, you can determine if the persons are in the same constellation as the agent will only charge you a very low rate. So you can check if a gang is working nearby for free, and very quickly.

Stuff like that will make you less likely to be the victim of a gank and more likely to be successful at catching people with their guard down and with their friends not ready to pwn you.

Feynman taught himself the drums and as a result, developed his own unique style that surprised others.

If you're having fun, keep doing it and you'll learn from experience- who knows if you'll come up with something new and interesting?

I have to say, i'm loving the experience that i've been getting from the fights. Now when i'm jumped i'm more calm in making my moves and trying to think what is the best way to handle the situation even though i have 3 guys ontop of me. Last night i was jumped again and if it was a 1 v1 the other guy would have been done. 8 times this month i've been out number out of 11 fight so far in my short career.

Use local, use d-scan, and use your own mobility so that you never get into the situation with 3 people on your face.

Thanks for the advice.

Yes solo pvp is alive and well. I love the pvp aspect of this game.

You may be too new to realize that he was pointing out some of the most controversial tactics employed by "solo" pilots. While they do work, you will likely garner a reputation for said controversial tactics - no matter how fair in the grand scheme of things they are or are not. You will be known for using them, especially in your usual stomping grounds.

Just be aware that using these tactics will come with a price. Less people will engage you as they realize you use them, and you may earn less 'credit' for your activities should you decide down the road to leverage your experience towards some social goal.

Everything in EVE has consequences.

OGB isn't as risk free as it use to be. You have people hunting the boosters now that they can't hide in a POS shield any more.

  • On a station
  • On a gate
  • In a hard to scan spot, sporting ECCM to be even harder to scan, and with a cloak for good measure
  • On a POS
  • In a POS

I can feel the risk from all the way over here, and I'm not even logged on.

Ignore this guy if you want to be successful. There are no controversial tactics. There is only tactics and a lack there of. If your enemy thinks what your doing is unfair, it's because your winning.

Anything that gives rise or is likely to give rise to public disagreement (controversy) is controversial. As all of those tactics do indeed cause controversy, I think the word was appropriately applied, and that there certainly are controversial tactics.

I'm not arguing against them, so there's no need to 'ignore me'. He's welcome to use them, and I wouldn't give a damn one way or another. Just pointing out what others might think.

Sad but true, also run if you can't win.
