Finaly we got this but i have some toughts about it.. like can you make it so that everytime you insert/edit a bookmark you will be prompted with a corp passwords or a backlog showing who withdraw/created/modify's the bookmark? Since this game is full of jerks you might end up in the wrong place if somebody switches your bookmarks. :) Just saying Roll

Or a password protected folder as we might not wish to share all bm's with all members of a corp? New members should not necessarily have the coordinates to the entrance to your wh. Some safety from spies.

Otherwise, I like this very much.

That's called "standings". Blue someone up if they're on trial. Don't invite them into corp if you don't trust them.

Fix POSes.  Every player should want one (even if all players can't have one).

i would really appreciate the ability to restrict bookmark creation by role, this just is going to add a level of pain in the ass without any corresponding benefit

Not to mention the awoxing possibilites;

Create a bookmark in a system named "Jump bridge to system X" which is simply a warp-in to an anchored bubble and your gank-fit ship.

Thats why you'll be able to see who created them. Someone keeps making these, or keeps spamming useless bookmarks, you boot them. Plain and simple. Don't need CCP to hold your hand about it.

Awesome.

Could we also get an (optional) oldschool Norton Commander-style Interface to the bookmarks? (eg, twice the current interface next to each other). Because it is currently a bit of a hassle, to move a Bookmark from one directory that fills your screen when it is expanded into a different directory. That way we could open the source directory on the left pane, the destination directory on the right and just drag it over.

In the current screen, double-clicking on a folder name opens that folder in a separate window, doesn't it?

As long as they don't break that, it's easy peasy.

Assuming they haven't already, of course...

Yes, currently you can move bookmarks between directories by doubleclicking both so they appear in separate windows, and then dragging the bookmark in question from the source window on top OF THE BORDER of the destination directories window. If you drop it inside the destination directory, it gets moved into the bookmark root, not the directory.

That is exactly the secret handshake that is passed down from one generation of eve players to the next that I was referring to as "hassle".

Current Sisi build for me.

Drag and drop from Personal locations to Corp works. Clunky fuctionality to move new BM to corp got to resort order of personal and then drag and drop. Good but bad.

Right click save location has a tab that should allow me to save to corp locations only has personal.

Drop down fuctionality bad. Two clickable boxs better click corp and personal to save in both places.

Corp locations can not be differiniated in the in space right click menu. Could be better.

Any one else find any edge cases that you think should be working but are not.

Good but could be improved. Twisted

We tried to keep this really simple for now. I for one thing that the role restriction is exceptionally clever. Someone in the corp can fill up your corp bookmarks with crap however everybody will know who did it. If you don't have the communication officer you will only be able to delete bookmarks that you put there.

The choice of communcation officer as a role was actually suggested here on the forums. I realize that it might not be a role that is ideal for every corporation but the idea was to keep this simple for now.

I fully expect that some people will try to "game" the system in order to get "instant bookmark distribution". We however didn't want to gimp this feature for something that may or may not be an issue. We will be monitoring the player behavior and if we feel that the user experience has changed to the worse we will act on it.

Note: The bookmarks have always been stored server side and always will be. The reason being that we can't trust the client to supply us with a valid bookmark and therefore we always need to do some basic check when you try to warp to them. It's only the folders that was moved to the server.

That's quite some pressure! I won't have this many new features to talk about every day after the expansion probably...but information will keep flowing at whatever rate needed to keep you guys up to date with what's happening Blink

Glad you've had fun reading the blogs!

well i think that's what they're thinking of as the reason not to restrict creation by role but it won't happen: we'll just say "official bookmarks are from X"

but we'll still get idiots accidentally creating them all the ******* time and it'll be a huge pain in the ass clearing them to stay under 250 but nobody will actually ever successfully awox with it

Wait, what? Idiots in Goonswarm?

And they'll have the ability to troll their own membership at will or even through sheer ignorance?

Oh this IS a good change :)

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

As someone already said, would it be possible to (optionally) restrict Corp Locations to characters that have at last basic corp roles? No roles - no access.

That way corporations will be able to CHOOSE to restrict access to these locations to characters that make it through a trial period.

this is actually a very good idea.
also it opens a hole for a lot of drama XD

spy and replace bm's and do "terrorist" acts on your corp bm's.

cant wait for the amount of Capitals that will get caught like this...Put a bm to a gate instead of pos etc...! XD

I have been testing wormhole stuff on Singularity the past few days and corp bookmarks are even more awesome than they sound. Really great feature. I also think that limiting them is not bad, forces people to not clutter their corp BM folders.

Special congratulations on your solution to the corp role problem and who can create and delete what. I think it's perfect.

Some minor suggestions:
- if I move a personal BM to corp locations without holding shift, do not copy the BM, but move it. I don't need every BM twice, right? If I want to keep it in my personal folder too, I can hold shift while dragging it
- In right-click menu in space, display which BMs are personal and which are corp. I think corp BMs should always be in their own subfolder, while personal BMs are right on top

That is a good idea. I will add it to our UI Improvements list.

Daedalus Arcova wrote:
Will it be possible to save corp bookmarks to your personal list without visiting them?

Corp members should be able to copy any Corporation Location 'bm' to their personal list.

Stardrom DeLaBlanc wrote:
Will these be available to use via the right-click menu in space once they are in our 'people and places'??

The Right-Click option should be possible. We have a task on our list to make a shortcut key to bookmark current location that will open up a pop-up where you can put it into any of your personal or corporation folders and choose a custom name for it, or simply hit enter as soon as the pop-up appears to quickly store the default 'Location' name to the default folder.

The current SiSi built doesn't have the full intended functionality, the update tomorrow should have the drop down including both personal and corporation sections with their folders listed as well, so you can save a Location directly into a folder. I can't promise it will go in tomorrow, but I'm crossing my fingers Big smile
