Hello all,
Are Mobile Tractor Units any good for cleaning up after clearing combat anomalies such as Hideaways where there's plenty of wrecks oh and are they reusable? Since i considering purchasing one to make salvaging quicker for me because clear Hideaway deploy MTU wait till MTU has finished, move on to next Hideaway.

I like crazy plans

It should work but I don't really see a need for it in the Hideaway anomalies, at most you'll have about a dozen wrecks. It'll definitely be useful for the larger anomalies.

They are great. Use them all the time. Especially in high sec. And make sure you're flying a drone boat, your drones will automatically defend the tractor unit Twisted

They're great, for looting your own missions, and getting mission runners to shoot at you in missions.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Combined with Salvage Drones, the whole process of looting and salvaging has become fully automatic.

I have yet to see NPCs attack the MTU (as far as I know, they are not supposed to either) and salvage drones appears to draw little aggression, so you can let them get on with their jobs, while you focus on the shooting.

MTU are slow so drop it as close to fight as you can and as soon as you start shooting.

Elsewere you will wait forever after actual "fight" finished to MTU finishes its job

Combat ship clean-up and then coming with a noctis is far more efficient and profitable.

The whole "automation" is an illusion that earns you scrap and wastes your time.

they are great for padding your KB! kill the carebear, his tractor unit sucks his loot and what ever loot he got in the anom. kill the tractor unit and boom another 100m+ KM on your board :D

would be better if my combat pilot could drop them, then i could move in after he cleared a room with my noctis an salvage/loot up after him, as it stands im better the old fashioned way an just fitting the noctis with tractors/salvagers and following after

other than that if u only use one character there great unless im doing it wrong which is a huge possibility lol

This is a good idea except for what you do is drop the MTU at the start of the anom, clear the anom, bookmark the MTU, warp off and do more anoms for 5-10 minutes, return and scoop.

These things also do great in fights where blingy ships are out on the field, say incursion running. You can make a pretty penny scooping people's exploded bits.

Yes. Use them in your missions and remember to set your drones to "aggressive".

Okay, due to the some of the comments on here, there are some warnings you should understand about MTU.

1. People can destroy this 10 mil item will only gaining suspect status.
2. If your drones are set on aggressive they WILL attack the person responsible for it , thus causing you to engage in combat no matter if your safeties are on green.
3. People are quite happy to kill MTU's as they can add it to there kill mails and also claims bounty to the value of its contents(something which i believe may turn out to be a exploit to get rid of bounty's.)
4. Some reports have mentioned that Drones will attack the aggressor of a MTU despite being on passive(unconfirmed)
5. It will only tractor 1 item at a time at a speed of 1 km/s
6. It will ALWAYS tractor the nearest wreak or can, so putting two out next to each other can...well you get the idea.
7. yes this is all permissible and legal according to CCP.

MTU is more usefull in mission pockets, not in anomalies. I mean L3 or L4 missions. Cause every one can come and attack your MTU in anomalies and also loot and wrecks in Headways are not so good. I usually drop MTU at the beginning of the fight and than start cleaning NPC in mission pocket. After the mission is done I come back in a destroyer with 8 salvagers and salvage the big peal of wreckes, that my MTU gathered. Quick and easy.

MTU for CSM

Seriously though, NEVER kill a single rat without one

Youll wonder where they have been all your life and how you got by without them

I agree that in terms of "efficiency" a noctis is still far, far more efficient. However if you would rather sit there and browse the forum while having your salvage drones and mobile tractor do the looting for you, you just can't beat it. Not all of life is about isk/hr and being as efficient as possible. MTU's let you have fun and relax, too.

Also, you can dump one or more MTUs out and THEN start killing the mission rats.
