Ishtar is one of the slowest cruisers, sentries, like all drones are trivially easy to kill and nanoishtar has **** all for tank.

hm, so a counter to an ishtar is another ishtar...

we had a staged 4v4 duel in wormholes the other day, they brought a-type fitted rook, ishtar, deimos, thorax (cause we said to have 1 t1 for lols), we brought curse, navy cane, caracal and another navy cane.

ishtar won the other guys' the day. aside from the fact that a-type fitted deimos is ******* impossible to break, ishtar just aphaed my curse to bits, and went to work on our guys from 100km away.

1 ishtar is bad enough, earlier today we got hot-dropped by 70 ishtars somewhere in wicked creek i think we were roaming.

just sad that no real counters exist. if you start shooting his drones he will just burn off to about 60 and drop another pair, and then what? you either warp off or take the punishment.

sentries need to be looked at by CCP. but, until they do, im 1 day away from sentry 5 :)

You can also shoot his drones while you are tanking and then leave when things get risky

t2 sentries cost a bit.

Try a hml cerebus.
Stay 150 km away from him and his drones, arrange on grid bm's in case he probes you down and warps to you.
Just dont forget to bring non-scourge ammo.

Or just warp of its not like that sniping ishtar can keep a point on you.

Añ ishtar with neuts,dual webs, a scram, links, an assortment of drones 1600 plate and a capbooster to keep the point and webs running scares me alot more then a kiting ishtar. ;)

Do any of you read the ship description for the Ishtar, the bit where it has extra drone hitpoints per level?

The kiting sentry Ishtar concept existed in the past, and hasn't changed much except recently when CCP made it so much easier to fit an Ishtar, gave it a sig radius bonus whilst MWDing (which is kinda the idea when kiting) and nerfed HML's a while back.

What's changed is the advent of DDA's - previously you had about no chance ever of fitting sentry rigs to an ishtar and have a tank. Now, you can have your cake and eat it. 850 DPS, decent speed, just avoid being tackled. This is why you'll see Cynabal-Ishtar gangs dicking about.

Drakes would be about the only thing, in days of yore, which could push decent DPS to 70+ km to force an Ishtar away from its drones. Nowadays, HML ships are pretty anaemic DPS wise, and the sig radius buff certainly doesn't assist them much in maintaining this.

There aren't too many other options, save perhaps the Cerberus, which can pproject damage and be as mobile as the Ishtar. Not that you can tank the Ishtar's sentries.

Are sentries OP? Not especially, for brawling. But a kite ship which has a wildly expanded drone control range, and drone HP buffs? Its pushing the limits.

But, for a dose of salt, we drove off an ishtar with nothing more than 2 Scythes and 6 battle haulers.

Web drones. There is no way he can out run them.

The ehp I showed were for a hp bonused Garde II. Non bonused sentry will have around 5kehp.

Also, drone rig on an Ishtar use about half the CPU of a DDAII ; two sentry damage rigs will use about the same CPU as a DDAII and give about the same damage bonus.


I think anything able to survive its way to the sentry and with enough range to shoot at the Ishtar should be able to counter it : BS, Eagle, Cerberus. Just orbit the sentries at 5km or tank them while shooting at the Ishtar.

Bonus : if he abandon a set of sentries to launch a second one, scoop the first set. :D
