Others will probably speak to the topic of fitting better than I can.

But I figure that I might highlight a relevant tangent: Income. It'd be pretty darn cool if piracy, as it occurs in the game, was a profitable life. Alas, in most cases, it is not, and requires some other form of income. So when you try to find how to effectively get into pvp, keep that in view. In particular it will dictate that you'll want cheap hulls and cheap fittings.

It wont always be this way - As newcomers gain experience in the game, more income options are illuminated. But for now, you'll probably have to see to your income first, so that you don't dig yourself into a wallet-hole.

Figured I should throw that out there.

Fortunately a good part of the solution dovetails with another factor you'll want to look into - joining a corp. A functional corporation can help(dramatically) not just with your learning process, but with income opportunities.

Feel free to look up mine, btw, or send me some messages if you want to talk in-game. We do look for old guys, as most of our corp are family men.

Last note - More reading than playing can be fairly normal, when starting out. It was for me. But don't worry - that dynamic reduces after some time. It's a deep game, but it only goes so deep.

Tracking this topic as I had planned on dabbling in some piracy myself. Had not planned on posting but as a 30 something individual that last post did make me lol

While I agree with you that it's usually best to stick with cheap fits, I strongly disagree that piracy is unprofitable. I've done a lot of things in this game, and what I have found is that piracy is more profitable than anything except scamming and station trading. Lowsec PvP, on the other hand (often mistaken for piracy) tends to be pretty unprofitable in most cases.

The trick to making isk as a pirate is to be both an opportunist and completely unscrupulous.

Wow, i did not expect such quick responses, I go out to see the hobbit, and come back and BAAM, tons of great info! I will check out the links, i've seen the piracy guide on the wiki, thanks for the link on that. I will also check our the guide you wrote hedonism bot. Thanks again for taking the time to help a fledgling corsair.

Also one of the things i enjoy about the game so far is the amount of reading that you have to do, just with a game that has been out so long, and with recent ship changes, lots of the information is not correct so trying to make sure the information i'm getting is relevant has been a bit of a chore. But hey, if that's all i have to complain about, then i'm doing ok.

On that note, the suggestions of RVB, the agony unleashed course, and brave newbies seem great, i just want to find a chill group of older folks, with little rage and where i'm not just a number in the crowd, a woefully unskilled number at that.

So again, Thanks for the information posted, and if anyone has any tips i'll keep the message saved, perhaps if i get lucky in my quest for mischief and mayhem, i'll share some nuggets of information with you folks.
