I think the old models are really ugly. if i didnt know from playing, I'd think its just a random pile of twisted metal. id have no clue from looking at it, that it used to be one of the most beautiful (or ugliest) ship in the game. I'd like to see each ship get its own new wreck model that shows a more of what it used to be. Possibly a few of each version so as to not be completely homogenous for the shiptype. They did great with the ship explosions per class id like to see the same happen to the aftermath of aforementioned explosion.

Would be nice to see effects such as fire, smoke, leeking coolant/plasma, spinning etc,

Maybe on larger ships little escape pods flying off (purely as visual effects, they would disappear after a few seconds)

Agreed. Though I'd also like to be able to shoot specific areas on the enemy ship to, for example, take out their guns.

Enemies are just friends who stab you in the front.

Not opposed to the idea, but at the same time I pretty much never zoom in on wrecks so I don't really care what the model looks like.

In eve chronicles was told, that after explosion only small metal parts was remains.

I'd like this too. It looks silly when you blow up a battleship and what remains is a smal piece of scrap wire the size of a frigate. Also, explosions should be remade a bit to be more proportional to the size of the thing that blows up.

Agree. The models could decay over time to debris to not cause performance problems at large battles.

Admit it, I'm awesome. Cool

That said, I always actually wanted properly sized wreck models for every ship, would be cool and all. I also imagined it would be cool if those wrecks even looked like they could have been one of the ships I just destroyed.

It would be even cooler still if those wrecks had drift, moving in the very same direction the ship was moving when it got destroyed.

Dunno why, guess I'm just a sucker when it comes to at least semi realistic internet space ship movement.

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

+1 from me, it's been a long time I've wanted that. Now that capital ships have their very own wrecks, it might be easier to do for the subcaps.

Now that I'm reading the other posts, I remember a nice feature from Sins of a Solar Empire. While wrecks did not held together (fragments scattered at a fixed speed, so after some time after a battle the whole planet orbit is filled with small debris), these fragments were very detailed. I specifically remember ripped armor plates with bullet-like holes, their edges still red hot, slowly cooling down and eventually stopping glowing.

If EVE's engine allowed that, what if wrecks had effects that vary over time, such as red hot parts colling down, dust gathering again by the effect of gravity... so you could have a general idea about how old the wreck is?

Ofcourse that'd be awesome but as pointed out before i'd sorta expect that once the fusion bottle lets go in a ship i'm genuinely shocked theres ANYTHING left...

And i'm not sure i'd like the art department to have to build a wreck for every hull in the game, awesome as though that would be, when they are probably needed for things like the other t3 destroyers...

That's why I liked the old bright blue explosions. It seemed appropriate for a fusion bottle explosion like they detail in the 'Honor Harrington' novels. I was really disappointed when the new supposedly 'eye bleedingly pretty' explosions were introduced, as they made battles or even epic bombing runs kinda 'meh'.

I also miss the old torp explosions. When you were ****** stuff with torp bombers.. the whole damn universe saw it.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I absolutely endorse this! The capital wrecks were a huge "little thing" and this would add so much to a wreck field after a fight.

I can't count the number of times that I have been heading deep into a null region and come across a field of upside down pyramids and just took it in before breaking cloak to head to the next gate. Only just missing the fight. To turn off brackets and view it would be an awesome sight at some of these!

Oh yeah, that was awesome. Really felt like you were hurling city busters around just for fun. Cool

CCP MUST FOCUS ON SOV.
Yes this will be nice addition, and i love the idea - but it will not solve current outdated mechanic.

I bet you'll be the first to know once the art team starts working on sov mechanics.

Also, just in case you didn't know:

As much as I like the idea of matching wreck looks to the ship they came from (like they have done with capital ships), I have to ask few questions. Would this only apply to player wrecks or would it also apply to npc wrecks? Also would ships of similar design share one wreck model or would they be individualized? For example, would an Enyo, Incursus, Ishkur, and npc Serpentis Incursus ships have the different looks reflecting each ship or would they default to an wrecked Incursus?
