As a player who runs multiple accounts, its the little things that start to get to me having to contract items between manufacturing and mining alts transferring isk so i got to thinking, why not introduce Eve Family's think of it as a very private corporation Account holders would have the option of tying their accounts together , through a secure process, then further Creating the "Family" in game, i realize that Eves naming policy Does not allow for name changes, but if in bio it read "Phorp Aulmais of the family Aulmais" or "Kibia Kanjus of the Family Aulmais Allow shared hangers in the same station , a shared wallet .POS access even pushing it as far as for corporations to recruit entire Family's I'm not a computer programmer or coder here, but in my mind, pardon my ignorance , it seems like this could all be Done relatively easy off of a modified corporation system but a closed system, one real person per family, Perhaps based of billing address of personal confirmation? Just a thought! Any input would be greatly appreciated , apologies if it has been mentioned before, a quick search was fruitless.

CCP doesn't want to officially encourage multiple accounts. They accept people do it, but they don't want to officially endorse it for multiple reasons.

That confuses me a little, Both of my secondary accounts were made through an official promotion from eve. one being the "Power of 2" i believe and the other the $0.99 account sale would push me to believe otherwise

Was that why they had that "Power of two"-campaign a while back that gave a rebate for you to set up a second account? :D

Put an apostrophe on all the words that shouldn't have one and none of the words that should have one.

"Families" and "EVE's" and -1 for unnecessarily skewing the game even further towards "everyone should have at least five alt accounts".

Didn't you know? The apostrophe is a "brace yourselves, here comes an S" sign!

On topic, if you're not a programmer (or if you're a "programmer" and never worked on a medium to large sized project before), please don't comment on how easy or difficult implementing something would be. It just makes you look dumb to people who have an idea about it. Explain your idea and its gameplay effects, and leave the coding to the coders.

have you looked into the concept called "corporation"

I'd also direct you to look into the concept of "office"

.

Ah, yes! Corporate offices! I haven't rented one out in a very long time but that would indeed solve OP's problem!

I'm a programmer who's worked on medium to large sized projects, can I comment?

I wouldn't say the resistance to this is entirely down to 'difficulty of implementation'- there are some things in EVE that are mathematically difficult problems for which there is no easy way around and this isn't one of them. However, that doesn't mean it wouldn't be a certain amount of work.

The problem is always going to be a business justification for that work- pretty much everything CCP does has value attached to it- patches, new features, whatever, it's all justified by playing a part in attracting new players, reactivating old ones and keeping current ones.

'Quality of life' features like this are difficult to justify- while most people who it'll affect might say 'yeah, that'd make my life easier' they're not threatening to leave the game without it. Relative priority tends to go to such things as 'PI gives me RSI', both falling a fair bit under 'ship balancing'. Not to mention there's a political aspect to such features- while multi-accounting is somewhat accepted as a reality of EVE (as rightly pointed out, CCP directly endorses it through some of the deals they offer, and why wouldn't they- more money per head), there might be a backlash at expending effort to encourage and support it. I think people are rightly worried about it crossing the line from 'useful' to 'necessary'.

If you could convince CCP that such features would a) increase the amount of accounts significantly, b) not alienate and lose them customers in the process, and c) the net result be worth the effort put in, then maybe it might happen. I'm fairly sure the absence of this is what's holding them back more than it being a 'bad idea'.

ahm... how about your personal alt corporation? How about a chat channel for your alts and you? How about reserving contacts with +10 standing only for your alts? How about labels in contacts for your alts?

Families, especially forced membership of a family if chars are on the same account, is a no go in my opinion. Alts and toons are separate characters with no family bounds, unless you want that of course some way or another. I don't want other people to know about if I have an alt or not by default.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.
