I met up with a EVE pilot and together we walked in stations

It was a BP station, I filled up my Ford Fusion he filled up his Dodge Caravan.

This got me thinking why don't we fuel our ships in EVE?

Are they run on magic?

Magic seems unrealistic for a space game, it isn't very brutal nor realistic...

Would it be possible to add gas stations similar to the Yurts wherein players could refuel in space?

Would this make industry worth doing?

Would people fight over fuel?

Anway, meeting up with RL players in EVE is lots of fun, but the East Coast USA really needs a solid venue for doing so.

Until then enjoy flying your magic spaceships that do not ever need to be refueled.

Thank You Obama!

ships with cynos use fuel ... so do POS

your ships can also consume an awfully big amount of cap booster charges and nanite paste at times

if your run out of cap you stop half jump

so its really already there

I wouldn't have thought ships that far in the future rely on fuel for propulsion. That seems a little medieval. Converted from electricity stored in the capacitor, and recharged by solar power or some kind of quantum ****.

A nuclear submarine can run for years without refueling i imagine the generators are something like that. In the lore Minmitar still use a form of fusion to power their ships

Also, the ships are refueled. Only that you don't demean yourself to such a lowly task, as it is done by dedicated workers at stations and various bases.
The same goes for resplenishing the air, supplies and crews, and all these menial things unworthy of a capsuleer.

I hope they are fueled by Torgos Executive Powder. And I assume I have minions that sprinkle it in the tank.

SPAAAAACE MAGGIIIIIIC!

Looking to talk on VOIP with other EVE players? Are you new and need help with EVE (welfare) or looking for advice? Looking for adversarial debate with angry people?

Eve ships are powered by some kind of reactor that charges a huge capacitor.

Such a "capacitor as battery" is possible, as shown in this RL cap.

Now what the reactor is, I don't know. A quantum device? Maybe a hamster on steroids? I forget the lore on this.

Requiring fuel for the ships I suppose would be more realistic, but we'll be storing food for the crew before that day comes.

Mentioning ships crews at this point in the "why don't we make things more realistic" thread like this is a can of worms.

Some of my ships can go months without docking (i live in a wh)
Does that mean i have spare crews on hand at my pos? WHY CAN I NOT WALK AROUND DISPLAYING MY AWESOMENESS TO THEM IN MY POS!

The main reason why subs have to surface is because their crews need food. Lol

Your reactor, of course, requires fuel. Your training in Thermodynamics would otherwise make it less and less efficient.

According to the tutorial when I began the ship's power source is a fusion reactor (regardless of race) which leads us to the fuel required. Hydrogen is the easiest element to generate a fusion reaction in, it is also the most abundant element in the universe which is convenient...
Magnetic scoops can pull in a significant number of elemental hydrogen atoms as your ship moves, along with various other molecules which can (potentially) be useful to nanite systems and so forth. Of course you don't get that collection for free, according to the laws of motion the redirection of those atoms must have an effect on your vessel... which is why they don't continuously accelerate.
