I just got a new computer with windows 8......I downloaded the client yesterday, 5.5gb. After installation finished i started the launcher and it starts to patch, instantly showing either 15%, 25% , or 100% applied, and freezes, these numbers change on start up only. Ive run repair twice and it repaired twice, but nothing has changed. Any ideas what I can do?

Thanks

Update, launcher still not working but I can launch EVE from the bin file, plays with no issue. Any idea why launcher is failing at patch?

Thanks

If you can run EVE manually but the launcher fails at 100%, the dingbat launcher's possibly trying to build/rebuild its internal checksum "database" for your installed EVE files .. and failing at it. Just delete the checksums and let it rebuild. By now since its fairly common, they should've at least coded a checksum autorebuild function and if it fails after 3 failed rebuild - error out with a report ... but nah ... why bother. Other possibility is connectivity issue, however that will throw up the offline connnection page (usually).

They had supposedly done some (minor?) recode to the launcher for it to be more robust for Rubicon (from the test section dev post) iirc, but I still see launcher issue posts popping up all over the forum ..weeks well after the patch. If these posts are valid (not PEBKAC), then they've failed yet again. Mind you, no one there have heard of KISS ... it's an uncool thing nowadays. The cool thing is to make everything as complex as possible, with every imaginable dependencies and glitzy graphics to boot. Memory footprint is a non issue, after all we've all got gigabytes to spare .. don't worrry if it takes a few hundred megabytes. Code quality doesn't matter, what matters is delivery. CCP coder, best coders. Big smile

The launcher is slow to appear in the first place.
