Clearly not all scifi ships have them.

It's probably a good idea to put the most rudimentary thought into something before posting a suggestion on general discussion.

Given that eve uses a 'grid' system where a 'grid bubble' is created at each warpable point and location of objects/players in space; How would you re-program such a fundamental (before 2003) piece of basic coding (upon which the entirety of eve is built)?

Bookmarks would break, MJDs would probably break, exploration and probing would break. I can't foresee all the problems but I know it would be a massive code overhaul for no discernible purpose.

So basically, that's why I made this little flowchart. It may sound harsh but it's 100% true. If you do not have the most basic understanding of the game, the ability to foresee the major problems with an idea, or the skills to convey your ideas clearly and concisely, well...

If by Directional Thrusters you mean retrograde engines (to act as brakes/reverse in space) or Reaction Control System, not all scifi ships have them. Star Trek and Star Wars, just to name two big ones, lack RCS and retrothrusters. Ok, to be fair the Trek reboot movies have given the Enterprise VTOL rocket thrusters so it can launch from planets while remaining horizontal. Star Wars is still very noticable in its lack of these systems with its fighters, which dogfight in space as if they were in atmosphere, a design decision by Lucas because it looks cool. All real space ships have RCS, but that's because we have to operate on real physics and can not rely on Hollywood Technomagic to handwave away those laws in favor of cool starships.

EVE has the Warp Drive that handles the handwaving.

Ummm..... you've never looked at a fighter in this game, have you?
Remember the old "look at" from the info page, where the fighter would be bobbing, weaving, and barrel rolling? All those little puffs of flame that popped out of the damn thing? The hell do you think those were?
(Do they still show the blips of the thrusters, now?)

That moment when you realize the crazy lady with all the cats was right...

Great flow chart. You should work in management.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...
