about 10 times or more this week I encountered lonely Federation Navy Hobgoblin Drones left behind by miners.

dear miners,
anything from 0.5 to 1.0 (rats wise) can be killed easily using Hobgoblin I.

FNH = 1.8 m isk
Hobgoblin I = 6k isk

*Snip* Please refrain from personal attacks. ISD Ezwal

and thanks for the free 30 mil isk you left for me on the belts with the FNH drones you left :P

Clearly you are profitting.

And you actually want to complain, instead of encouraging the behavior that is lucky for you personally ?

Wow.

I think for the long run...
if gankers will see that miners uses flight of FNH which can be sold for 10 mil a flight they will increase their attacks.

I'm all for using cheapest fit with highest yield to not encourage gankers to increase their attacks, there are the tears farmers which we can't do anything about but the profit hunters which suicide with cheap fit for profit from the wreck those we can do something about.

No. This is not going to encourage a "whole new blow-up miners" campaign. That's already been running for over a decade now.

If one is not AFK and has an eye on Local, it's actually hard to get ganked while mining.

I'm not sure most raiders (especially the sucide gankers in higsec) do it for the ISK. Those who do it for fun or for tears will keep doing it no matter the value of the drones and cargo you carry.

Nevertheless, I agree with Nalelmir Ahashion that carrying Federation Navy drones is overkill and needlessly expensive. It's like shopping for groceries in a helicopter. Maybe they are just showing off?

Do you know who's going to inherit New Eden? Arms dealers. Because everyone else is too busy killing each other.

I don't know why they are using those either. They won't make any difference from the regular drones when mining. In missions....that's another story entirely.

In the beginning of my mining career I thought I'll should use T2 scouts to defend vs rats... but not only rats on 0.5 eve can't break my shields with decent drones skills flight of T1 hobs rips them to shreds in seconds... it's hilarious.

so why waste good isk on anything more expensive then T1 hobs? a perk of using those cheap ones is that I can just warp out if gankers attack me and I won't care if I lost my drones.. they are like 30k a flight.

LOL...like 10 mil is much to a suicide ganker.

Bro...I live in null and when we occasionally goto HS to kill some sec status we don't really care what type of drones the miners are using...usually if we find a belt with 2+ hulk/macks thats enough for us...the more the merrier but hey...5.0 sec status...what fun is having that?

they probably overestimated the potential damage of great drones without having drone skills and then managed to get in over their heads with belt rats... either that or a mean person spoiled their rock party

at any rate I think I wrote this thread wrong I meant to give free tip to miners to save them time and money and Instead I tried to be funny and I was d-bag.

so TL;DR
with drones V and drones support skills on 2-3 you can kill any belt rat on 1.0\0.5 sec easily with Light Scout Drone I.

T1 drones in 1.0 thru 0.5 just to kill any offending rat is ok.
However for the pilots who also do mining missions, mine ore in low sec,
and venture into null to pluck some forbidden fruit,
the ability to fully employ T2 drones is a must.
and once trained, its just a waste to not use them where ever drones r needed.
