Yep i would rather see FoF and defenders merged into one type... So it either shoot missile or closest ship/structure whatever.

well then leave FoF Mark 1 as normal FoF and FoF mark 2 as defender @ FoF obviously more pricy

would be interesting if they could also be used to protect vs bombs aswell, might make them more used.

if you don't use them, and nobody else uses them then why should anyone care?

really, wtf makes you think removing an "unused" item is a priority?
how exactly would this help anything?

Seems nearly every reply is going wide of the mark. The OP was complaining about mission NPCs using defender missiles and reducing ISK/hour.

Based on that argument, I'd say no, don't remove them. As pointed out, they're useful on interceptors.

Cynter's Law of feature suggestion: Thou shalt not suggest NPCs do something players could do instead.

Possible variations on this would be:

For the defender "module" to be able to be fitted in a utility high slot.

make SIEGE launcher launch 10 defenders at once. Hold 200 defenders. Viable.

Make heavy launcher launch 5 defenders at once. Hold 100 defenders.

If you can't allow previous, make defenders - flare decoy - missiles may go for the decoy rather than ship. As in heat seaking missiles vs aircraft on Earth.

I'd be very happy if there was a change to defenders to allow shooting any unfriendly missile, rather than just ones targeted on you. Then let logistics ships mount them as another damage mitigation ability (while buffing their ability to stop missiles)

Defenders should be as good as turret destabilisers. Maybe even changing them to midslot...
