is it worth training range finding and pinpointing to 5?

i am an explorer in nullsec, so im constantly using the scanning system. im just wondering what benefit i will get from training these skills to 5. i have NEVER ran into a site i couldnt probe down to 100% ....

if there is a benefit, what is it? these skills take a long time to train, so im wondering why anybody would ever train them to 5

Combat scouts.

People who try to scan down safepoints, or scan down ships that logoff-warp. In these situations speed is the primary concern.

thank you for the response.... so for somebody that uses the probing system for exploration, its safe to say that training these skills to 5 is a waste of training time?

If you're scanning in friendly or at least unpopulated space, sure. If you're in hostile space, the 30 seconds you could save by not having to do as many scans is 30 seconds someone has to enter your system and find you.

Unless you think that scanning exploration sites really really really fast is important to you, then yes. They can also help a lot with finding those pesky 10/10s, but as you said, level V skills are not really required in the first place to find those.

im always scanning from safespots, cloaked. so just to be able to scan down signatures a tiny bit faster, it probably isnt worth it for me.

Nowadays since core probes have double the strength of combat probes it´s not really required for exploration.

However when combat probing, maybe even on a non bonused hull (a recon comes to mind) you will need every bonus you can get. Especially as players often do not have the courtesy to remain in place for extended periods of time when they notice someones probes.
