Low RAM warnings after Rubicon launch

Hello everyone,

I'm curious whether anyone else is having similar problems to mineQuestion Ever since the Rubicon launch, my PC keeps complaining about low RAM, and truth be told, the RAM load of the EVE exefile sometimes really spikes and hits the 9GB mark.
My specs:
Intel Core i7-3770k, 8GB DDR3/2GB pagefile (tried to turn it on to no avail, I don't need it anywhere else), GeForce GTX660 Ti 2GB.
My GPU/CPU load stays fairly low at all times, on Full HD and maxed out details. Did anyone get a similar problem? And a solution? My support ticket about this seems to hang in the middle of nowhere, I'm trying to think that the techs at EVE are thinking it over instead of forgetting about me altogetherBig smile

Im one of the last 2GB RAM users left in the world of MMOs and I have not seen this warning before.

Try switching back to DirectX9 from the launcher; I'm having similar problems with Aero complaining about sluggish behaviour, and alt-tabbing sometimes causes a black screen in EVE.

I have found Rubicon to be less friendly to alt-tabbing than Odyssey but as has been mentioned before switching to DirectX 9 in the launcher cured the majority of the problems I encountered.

Try 2 things...

Limit yourself to 10 clients per computer...

Also, botting programs eat more RAM then a fat person at an all you can eat buffet...

On a serious note...

I've never seen this this before but then again I have 16GB of RAM and shouldn't...

You have 8, and unless you have 6484849374 pages open in your web browser, several clients and a **** ton of other services running in the background. Neither should you...

Your computer is probably warning you moreso of your virtual ram (pagefile) moreso than your actual ram. When you set your pagefile to 2GB, what that translates to is a soft limit which gets crossed when you play eve, hence your "error".

The solution is to set your pagefile to "System Managed", or at the very least set it higher than 2GB :P My personal rule of thumb, if I do change it, is to set it to double the actual ram, set the min and max to be the same so that it doesn't grow or shrink the page file, and if possible, set it to be on a different physical drive than the OS.

Well, for Windows this is impossible imho, already explored that option before, as I don't want my system SSD to be weared down ahead of its expected lifetime. Otherwise about the pagefile, I didn't need it with 8GB physical ever before, so I had it turned off completely before, even with the pre-Rubicon EVE version.

I'll try the suggestions here (side note: I'm happy with running only a single EVE client, I don't have any altcharsSmile)

Yep, got a blackscreen and memory leak a few times since Rubi. I'll be swapping back to DX9 today but it's a damn shame since DX11 seems to have made the stupid clouds tolerable.

Just download some more RAM.

Wait, What?

Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.

Sounds like something else is eating your RAM, as far as I know the EVE client is still 32bit and hence wouldn't be able use that much RAM in the first place (not without memory mapping anyway which I seriously doubt is going on).

I'm not getting ram warning per say, but I am being told that "resources are low, do you want to use a simple color scheme" or something to that effect - this started with Rubicon. The computer seems to run fine though. I have 8 gigs of ram and don't multi box so it's a bit peculiar

You can switch the drive your pagefile goes to.

select the other drive, select system managed size then click set.

go to your c: drive and select no paging file then click set.

reboot computer

And then there you go.

This, this and this again.

Just accept the fact that Windows needs a pagefile (Virtual Memory) and that some applications wont even run without it being present and writeable.

I've done some really stupid shit in this game.

That's funny, mine is on physical drive F:. Takes about 15 seconds to set up. So you probably didn't look for it.

Switching to DX9 solved my problem. Unacceptable in the long term tho, I hope someone's gonna fix that finally Big smile
