I know this post is entirely subjective, but I wanted some opinions on what people think is the most fun pvp role to fly in medium sized fleets (50-200ish people).

I started my eve PVP experience with interceptors since tackle is widely perceived as the entry-level pvp role for new players. Since then, I've trained up a lot of other skills and could reasonably fly most roles in a fleet (damage dealer, ECM, logistics, etc.). However, nothing (so far) seems to be as dynamic or engaging as flying interceptors.

I understand there is -some- skill involved in damage dealing, but it sort of seems like the big-picture idea is to lock up the primary, shoot, and hope you aren't primaried by the other fleet (since you can't really do anything about it if you are [except for turn on your reps and call for shield/armor from the logistics ships]).

ECM and logistics seem to be more dynamic then damage dealing since you aren't merely shooting the primary (you are having to monitor/lock up multiple ships and spread your resources out dynamically). But even then, you can't really maneuver very well, and if you are primaried by a large group of the enemy fleet you're kind of screwed.

On the contrary, interceptors seem to offer a whole lot more options when it comes to fighting. Since I am faster than 99% of the other ships (a bunch of skills in navigation and the way I fit my ceptors) I can pretty much dictate the terms of the fight. I can maneuver orthogonally to mitigate cruiser sized guns and above. I can keep range beyond most threats (heavy neuts, destroyer/frigate sized guns, scrams, webs, etc.). Additionally, I can help the fleet out with other niche jobs besides simply tackling (scouting, closing distance to snipers for a warp in, etc.). Furthermore, since I am generally much faster and more maneuverable than other ship types the fight is always more dynamic. For example, I can pick fights with stragglers or go anti-support (instead of just calling primary). I can maneuver quickly to avoid bombs then hook around and point and kill the bomber (if I'm fast enough).

Obviously, there are some threats that interceptors just need to stiff-arm altogether (like missile boats, and ships with bonuses to scram/web range, etc.). But even then it's easy to avoid those threats since you are always faster than they are. All in all, interceptors seem to offer a more dynamic and skill intensive play style than other roles.

Let me know what you think (to include what roles you like to fly and why [specifically what aspects of those roles are the most fun]).

The long answer is no, but sometimes interdictors.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's fun about t3 ships? (Never flown one so I don't know what makes them unique when it comes to pvp).

With the the new nullified ceptors, your FC should be giving you a lot of flexibility to scout and/or make things happen outside of strategic ops. That requires your ceptors to have some competence, be able to quickly and accurately relay intel, and to make judgement calls about what to do in a given situation. But flying an unleashed ceptor is a lot more fun then just F1ing. If your using ceptors for only tackle, your really missing out. Maybe I've just been lucky to fly with alliances that expect their members to help out, rather then keeping it all bottled up with the FC team.

Honestly, I've had a blast flying logi for most of my nullsec careers, and being able to decide if someone was worth saving due to personal grievance was a wonderful vindication to me.

That said, when I flew ceptors regularly, I flew ceptors and dictors and nothing else. Its hella fun, but its all up to you. Might want to check out EAF's now that they've gotten a pass from the devs though, they might be worth something or a decent amount of entertainment at least.
