Allow direct trading for LP and the following things happen:
- It adds a new opportunity for traders to make ISK, by buying LP and cashing it out.
- People who don't want to spend their time figuring out what is best to cash out will accept having lower ISK:LP for the convenience of skipping the bit they don't enjoy.
- ISK:LP ratios, along with the price of LP gear, will drop a bit as everyone sells the last few LP in places they don't run missions for. But the price will recover.
- The ISK:LP ratio for every single corp becomes easily visible to everyone. Maybe leading to missioners spreading out a bit until all the high sec corps have similar ISK:LP.

Overall I view this as a good thing.

Wouldn't the lead to absolutely massive manipulation of the LP market unseen since the old FW system that allowed goons to print unfathomable amounts of ISK? How would this effect the cost of BPC's and faction ships? I agree that having random LPs are annoying, but why not just make it possible to convert faction LP to concord LP at a loss, and then people can convert that to their LP of choice (at a loss again)?

This right here is a good idea. I still have a shitload of old LP from my standing grind days I'll never need, so I would really like a mechanism to just turn them into whatever I actually need (at a loss, of course).

No it won't. This is because Goonswarm's manipulation involved creating lots of LP then selling it. The LP market wouldn't create new LP, so that manipulation can't happen.

The only manipulation this would allow is the price manipulation you see in the prices of other items on the market.

The Best idea I have heard regarding LPs was, with the exception of FW LP, have LPs be faction wide and not corporation specific.

Ex: Running missions for Federation Navy would get you Gallente LPs not Federation Navy LPs.
But FW Plexing and Federal Defense Union would still get you Federal Defense Union LPs.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

They're loyalty points for a reason- you earn them by doing missions for and being loyal to a corp. There shouldn't be any workarounds to that.
