New player here and the 10m SP mark is just around the corner. I'm Int/Mem right now and I've been pretty disciplined but I'm getting a bit tired of training up support skills. So, I plan to move into Per/Wis soon so I can start flying cooler ships and doing more damage. I'm worried I might be jumping the gun a little though.

My Focus
Missions (eventually incursions)
Exploration

I do like to fly a frig into low sec to rat/pvp every couple of weeks just for fun but PVP in general doesn't interest me.

To be honest, I would probably just finish Thermodynamics and then swap over. There's no reason to stick to something if you're getting fed up with it. The worst thing is training something against your will.

Go train missiles / gunnery, get those ship skills in and have some fun. :)

Thermodynamics to V? I never really considered it. Is it that good?

If you're pvping a lot it is certainly worth it. But you'll get by with IV and for PVE you don't need it.

- Hull Upgrades V is very worth it. You get 5% more armor.
- Armor Compensations to III or IV is worth it
- Scanning and Hacking Skills for exploration, get them to IV (Astrometrics is worth getting to V)

But as Aivo Dresden said: if you're bored training int/mem and eager to get into better ships and guns then just go for it. Even if you come back to support skills in a few months the difference in training time isn't the end of the world. You'll easily make that up with the massive increase in ISK that you can make with ship/gunnery skills.

Train the armor skills before you remap. They're a longer train than shields, and you don't necessarily need V, but you'll regret if if you don't. This is regardless of race, because at some point you'll want to cross train and its one less thing to train at that point. Also, every race has a few ships that can be tanked either shield or armor depending on usage.

EDIT: Just read what the guy above me said. He has good advice.

I agree with the earlier advice about some basic skills - and most of them are short individually, even if they seem huge as a group.

I see you have a lot of the "fun" skills to level 1 right now (Assault Frigate, CovOps, Interceptor). Go ahead and take them to 3 or 4 even though you aren't mapped for them. The difference isn't that much when the train is only 1 day or 2 days really, but the payoff between level 1 and level 4 is a lot. In general I fly a lot of ships at level 4 and then make that jump to level 5 after I'm sure I love them.

Edit: that goes for some of the support skills you have to 1 right now. Taking them to 3 may be like 7 hours each. If anything these early skills are annoying because you have to log in once a day just to update them, which may be tough depending on how much free time you have. So load up one of those basics from level 1 to level 3, then put one of the big ones (3days plus) in behind it so if you can't get to Eve some night you don't feel bad.

Trying out all the things to do here in Eve - it's quite a checklist. So I made a blog Jakob's Eve Checklist

So just as an update, I ended up remapping to Perc/Will almost immediately and I don't regret it one bit. I've been flying around in a Drake doing level 4's for months and now IRaven and almost into cruise missiles. Oh man, I'm in heaven. I can't believe I've waited this long.
