NPCs should "talk"

Reading chronicles, realised that every "NPC" - rat, mission building, whatever, is crewed by people.

So why dont they talk? Taunt you, beg for mercy, propose deals, whatever? Theres only a few messages in select missions that count as talking, barely.

Every rat should have a chance of sending you a message, and maybe even tie standings into it - say a rat begs for mercy, you let it go, and get a little "mercy" standings.

What you guys think? Make shooting red crosses a little more personal?

PS: i havent ratted in years, but for that one time i actually do shoot a rat somewhere, i want it to BEG!

It should also be able to automatically optimise autopilot routes with dozens of way points.

And when u do rat and has u pointed webbed and almost killed you,do u want a pop up mesage saying : because u killed my brothers now u will get drilled hardly in your rear hull by my big and wide autocannon! Die you s@n of a b!tch !!!!

This belongs in F&I, but I strongly think this is a great idea. It would help immersion greatly, in my opinion.

Aura should respond to my flirting with realistic insults.

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

Might I suggest a single player RPG? NPCs tend to be more talkative in those.

They do talk, it's that incoherent gibber-jabber you hear now when they spawn in...and it's the same damn conversation looped over and over again. I was thinking there should in fact be a way to shut them the hell up without turning off sound entirely.

F&I, post there and I'll support you.

EQ2 was originally all text, then they paid all these actors to come in and do voices for all major characters. At first I thought it was dumb, until I heard the voices, then I realized it really improved the game experience.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

All what i want and dream is talking Aura inside my ship, like scripted voice commnads - more warings infos, tips or even short jokes...

This would be awesome, WARP DIRIVE ACTIVE is cool but boring after x years in game and milions of jumps...

.... sadly, I'll admit that the talking npcs are my favorite part of TOR. It makes them more interesting. and they scream so prettily when they die...

Listen more closely in Angel missions. There is radio chatter in the background, complete with "Blah-di-blah!" I think you have to turn the world sounds up, but it's there.

Because why would a crazed group of complete psychopaths (or in the case of Sansha, Borg/Zombie hybrids), expect mercy or any feedback at all from what is undeniably one of the BIGGEST heartless sociopaths in the universe shooting at them.

Think about it, if an ant begged you for mercy, would you stop torching it with your magnifying glass?

The answer is no, because you are a human who cares nothing for other creatures, so of course the ant wouldnt even try to beg, it would just die in the silent insignificance representing its existence.

now factor that up by about 11, and you see why any NPC capable of begging for mercy, likely wouldnt, not even taking into account 90% of the pirate factions are either Reavers, Reapers, or Borg.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.
