So, I've been playing for around a month and a half and training pretty specificly to pilot a Dominator drone boat. I've gotten my ship and though its very nice it looks kind of, well, meh. Then today on a mission with a friend I ran into this Matriarch Alvus and had a look at the ship for the first time, and damn, now that is how I want my Dominator drone boat to look.

I know you can pilot certain rat ships so I was hoping it is also possible to pilot a ship that looks like the Matriarch Alvus. Searching the market let to nothing for me, but maybe i am missing something. So, if anyone know of a ship that looks something like it - please let me know.

players have been asking for those for a while. last time I saw a dev reply on the subject it was something like, you don't want rogue drone tech on your ship as it will drive you insane. which is basically RP fluff for you cant have this.

What you were looking at was not a ship...it's a drone.

I do know how you feel though. There seem to be very few exceptions to the unspoken rule of wierd looking ships.

Hi,

there was a short story in the EON #1 or #2 issue, describing what Rouge Drones do to humans.
You dont want to pilot a Rouge Drone ship. :)

There are a few excellent drone boats out there just as capable as the Domi. You know it has the nickname 'the space potato'? Don't be disheartened about how EVE ships look, though. I thought very badly of the designs of a lot of them when I first started playing on my first account back in 2009, but they have a really odd way of creeping up on you & one day you find yourself loving all of them, even the notoriously ugly ones!

I would'nt say I'm dishearted, I really like how a lot of the ships looks - unfortunately, those I really like are bonused quite diffrently from how I like to play ^^

What really baffles me is that in a game thats been around for this long, and where ships is your sole identifier - apart from a tiny portrait - you cant even custumize your ships apperance in the slightest. Would it really be that hard to add a bit of custumization to hte game, I imagine quite a few pilots would love to see that. Or how about the ability for players to craft ships that look slightly diffrent.

I can understand from a veteran pvp point of view that might be annoying since they can no longer 100% identify every single ship just by having a glance at them - and perhaps that is the reason.
