Back after 5 years, what's changed?

I am trying EvE again after 5 or so years. This is a trial, before i re-activate my main accounts. When i used to play, i was a 0.0 dweller, fighting in alliance wars and running complexes for money.

So, what has changed since then? I am not asking for details like:
- Microjump drive module added
- Warp acceleration changed
I can read all those from various change notes.

I am looking for the impact of those changes.
- Is scanning 0.0 complexes still a good way to make money? What about PI? Incursions? LVL4? WH?
- Is solo(ish) hunting in 0.0 still viable?
- Is there better PVP in WH space? I've always dreamed about PVP with no local, but are there enough targets in WH space?

Thanks all

p.s. can't believe this name wasn't taken in 10 years....

Honestly the changes are probably too great to just list here. You might want to read through major expansion notes to get an idea of changes that have happened. Brush up on politics, popular news stories over the years, etc.

No, no, yes.
Exploration income has been lowered a good bit with the removal of rats from all but ghost sites. This means anyone can do it in a frigate. With such a low bar for entry, it's a joke and the rewards have saturated the market.
PI is decent but only if you do alot of it. Aka, people running all three characters 24/7 PI in order to make their account pay for itself. It's not worth the massive time investment IMO. Though I'll gladly set up customs offices to tax those who want to try.
Incursions pay a lot of pure isk and whatever LP you desire. They're decent money but be prepared for pretentious, paranoid fleetmates and strict doctrine.
Level 4s seem to pay a good bit more than they did when I started (2008). I guess that's just basic inflation and an increased demand for named modules.
Wormholes are still wormholes. They haven't changed much since their release. Too much scanning and drifting around for me. It's really just preference of playstyle. Many wormhole products have slowly dropped in value from their initial release, but it's still good money.

Thanks Lilliana

So what's wrong with solo 0.0 hunting?

There's nothing "wrong" with solo 0.0 hunting, but it just isn't nearly as viable as it was in the past. More isk on the field, more people, and more hot-drops all add up to mean you will get blobbed/outmatched much more.

Welcome back to Eve.

When you reactivate your old account, make sure you check the skills section of your character sheet, you might have some extra skill points available. Also if you find your character is in a hostile null sec area / starbase, you can submit a Support Ticket (Petition) to have your character moved to friendly space. That includes 1 ship and everything you can pack into it's cargohold. Everything else should be sold prior to that since you more than likely won't ever be allowed to dock there again.

Things have changed a lot in the past 5 years. As was already stated, check the Expansion notes for more info.

Good luck to you.

Another returner here. I went AWOL shortly after Incarna was released but decided to come back and have another look now that Rubicon is out. So far I see nothing but good, streamlined, changes. But whatever happened to the in-game music? Straight

Anyway, great to see the game is more beautiful than ever and the monocle debacle has been put to rest... for now.

They decided that you already have at least one better music player installed on you computer and moved the files to Soundcloud

The current music is intended to be more situational aware. Or so we've been told ;)

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Welcome back.

The Jukebox was removed and I believe CCP split up the song list to automatically play in different areas of space. In the Esc menu I have the music level turned down and most of the time have my Computer play Joe Satriani 'Surfing With The Alien' CD.

[COMING BACK TO EVE] What's changed since I got old?

This should sum up everything you want to know from as far back as the Trinity Expansion.

Agreed with this.

There's been a real proliferation of Not Blue Shoot It (NBSI) over Not Red Don't Shoot (NRDS). As such 0.0 is not at all friendly to people that cannot do one of two things:

- Project serious force to establish an area
OR
- Make alliances with those that already have done so.

Small roaming gangs can indeed get the odd killmail, but they can and will be thumped with 10+ carrier hotdrops at the lower end, or 50+ supercapital hotdrops if someone wants to really go overboard.

Wormholes and lowsec are more conducive to solo hunting. In wormholes you can't be hotdropped; in lowsec you can often escape because there's no bubbles.
