Abaddon for L4's

Evening folks,

Returned to the game after a break and started to do some L4's once again in my Abaddon. I had hit T2 weapons over the break and was naturally, curious to try them but they seemed more of a downgrade overall than an upgrade. By this I mean the extra cap usage, on an already pretty non-existent cap ship really hurt me.

Anybody got a decent Abaddon T2 fit that doesn't suck the cap dry in a minute or so? I suppose as well is it worth looking at a Apoc instead?

Cheers,

From what I understand is the abbadon is a skill intensive ship meaning you need highskills all around to properly fit and fly. I would say the apoc by far for the extra gank. I use to fly an apoc with minimal skills and was able to run 14 minutes with everything running and im sure now I would be stable but with the lack of skills still had good range and applied dos.

Use the Apoc and eventually the navy Apoc (or Geddon, if your drone skills are awesome). Their paper dps is lower, but the actual damage application goes through the roof and you'll have nowhere near the cap issues of the Abaddon. The later only really surpasses Apoc if you really need that tank or if you have cap transfers going.

Work into a Paladin for L4s if you plan on staying in a laser boat, Nightmare is good too.

I've never had any issues with my Navy Apoc. I have about 4 min of cap with repper and guns going. It's stable with just guns. I use beams because I fleet with people in Ravens so that's my reason. I'm on my phone now but I'll list a few fits when I get on my PC.

I found this online... My fit is similar without the MJD and has more tank in the lows. It's a bit light on tank but the MJD is meant to keep range to keep incoming DPS . I'm going to try it when I get a chance. Of course this would work best in Amarr space

Magic thanks folks.

Ilshira, massive thanks as well, think I'm going to bite the bullet and invest in an NaPoc, can't hurt after all!

Can confirm that the above fit (tach) is solid ,if a little under-tanked. though not by much.

I run a very similar one in caldari space , usually against gurristas/angels and it holds out pretty well.
my skills are ok now but when i started in the hull (standard apocalypse) i could barely fit the dame thing, not that i knew how.
managed to make enough for a npoc out of it though so i can certainly vouch for its forgiveness .i.e a dumbass noob in a fail fit (spectacular fail) can get through a lvl4 with one.

in an npoc now and i cant recommend it enough

Beautiful ship aswell

I'm curious how do you find a laser boat versus guristas and angels. In my experience its just not worth my time becuase it takes so long to kill anything bigger than a cruiser when ur shooting into their highest resists.

Cant remember my exact dps but my fit was something like (IIRC)

8 x mega pulse II
Experimental 100MN AB
3 x cap recharger 2
3 x heatsink II
1 x EANM II
2 x specific hardners II
1 x beta capacitor power relay? (cant remember if its called this - its the one that increases cap recharge at the expense of shield boosting)
1 x LAR II

@Bastion: while laser boats are indeed suboptimal against Guristas and Angels, there's a way to mitigate at least some of the problem by using long range guns, so you can use short range ammo (more thermal damage as opposed to Scorch that's mostly EM). The only real issue is Angel elite cruisers, which mitigate well over half of your potential damage, but you can usually burn through that with lasers' raw firepower. It's far from optimal, but it works if needed.

pretty much,
you can't expect cnr level isk per hour but its far from pointless. cap boosters help for the longevity of engagements which can be rather protracted . however it will teach you to get the most out of the hull rather quickly.
knowing the triggers also becomes rather important when you can't mitigate the agro as quickly as you would in amarr space.

my fit, i use a mjd instead of the 2nd tc and a rep II .

the fits not ideal and given that i dont have t2 gank its somewhat limmited in dps but its WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY beter than that spectacular fail fit i mentioned earlier

Fair point.
