About those mindlinks...

So some mindlinks are getting scarce on the market, and I think I've read about that being because there are more Storyline (faction) missions (lvl 4?), so that the chance of getting a mindlink-mission is smaller now. Is that so, and who gives out those missions? Is it totally random what mindlink you get, or is it racespecific? Who gives out Mining foreman mindlink then? I have never seen so few Mining mindlinks on the market, only 6 left and at a high price of course...

The mission gives random mindlink. I could be wrong but I think that mission can even give some random hardwire instead of the mindlink.

I think storyline agent can give you any mission (courier, combat, doesn't matter) so you could just mission for any empire lvl4 agent.

The lvl 4 storyline 'Shipyard Theft' can give a mindlink or a 5% implant as its reward. There are effectively multiple versions of this mission with different enemies (I know I've had Angel, Serpentis, Guristas and Blood Raiders) but who you fight doesn't seem to have any effect on what the reward is. Likewise which faction you receive the mission from seems to have no bearing.

This is the only source I'm aware of for any of the mindlinks and given that even if you do get offered the mission you don't always have a mindlink as the reward mindlinks are not going to return to their previous prices without changes from CCP.

The addition of new level 4 storylines means Shipyard Theft is less common.

I also think it was given out by Distribution storyline agents, which are now considered courier.

I've never received mindlinks from anywhere other than Shipyard Theft. Its definitely the new storylines that have pumped the prices - there are both combat and courier stroylines that have been added.

as far as i know, any storyline mission has a % chance of giving a mindlink reward. I've gotten a mindlink off of one of those courier missions where you buy the ore off the market.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm was gonna train for those on a few alts and was put of by the prices. Sure, a highsec miner in a Orca won't ever lose the mindlink, but it takes a while for it to be a good investment...

In 0.0 though, the same is not true, a damnation can easily die in a fleet battle... but a mindlink is a must.
