AB Fit tackle

Hi All,

I've been wondering about tackle. If you are AB fit with a standard web and scram, then how is it possible to catch your opponent to even tackle him? Most people are using MWD's these days, so I maybe need some advice on how to get in range with a AB fit?

I am a minmatar pilot, so I generally want to be very close so that I can shoot my autocannons within range, that is why I am interested in this advice.

Thanks,
Steve

Look up 'slingshotting'. I honestly haven't had a ton of experience with it. Also, all the cool people use webbing drones.

If your tackling for a gang you will want an MWD, if solo an AB provides superior range control in a brawl but at the cost of being unable to split gangs, catch competent MWD kiters and disengage from some fights ( though an AB can help disengaging sometimes too).

I'd say try both. Depends on your ship and on what you're trying to tackle. If possible you can use dual prop. I have used a buffer shield dual prop firetail in the past and it was very survivable. Quick enough to catch mwd kiters or slingshot away from point range and good enough to work a decent brawl too.

EDIT:

A lot of people use MWD to get in range but are not actually fit for kiting. Having AB in that fight will help you to control range much better. Experience will tell you which ships will be more likely fit for brawling. I.e. a Condor will most likely be kiting.

Remember, this is Eve. Things are hit and miss and no matter what you choose it will not be the right choice every time.

Setup inside the plex, wait for your target to warp in, grab him.

This. AB/web/scram fits rule if you are inside a plex first waiting for someone to warp in. Otherwise pick your fights. As they said - if you are tackling for a fleet, it is generally preferable to fit a MWD.

Can you tell me what is a plex? I thought this was like a game time card.

if you're trying to catch a big thing on a gate (say in a frig that doesn't have MWD sig reduction) you can do so with AB/web/disruptor

An overloaded disruptor and your ship's natural high scan res will allow you to get the initial tackle. The web and AB are still useful once you're actually in a fight, allowing you to speed tank and be fairly effective at tackling with point + web. But an AB + scram + web does nothing for a gang that's trying to catch stuff.

AB/web/disruptor is suitable for new pilots when doing gang work, just remember that its an alternative, not a replacement, for a proper mwd-fitted interceptor.

PLEX can refer either to the unit of game time (Pilot License EXtension), or a complex. In this context, they're referring to Faction Warfare complexes.

ABs are an extremely niche module. They're often used on brawling frigates that expect to be brawling other frigates in a 1v1 scenario, but in most other situations a MWD is the more common option.
