I'm sure your all tired of this subject, but I cannot find one that is up to date on this topic. All of the recommendations I have found are discontinued models. Please forgive me

I'm leaving the country for a few months and I am looking for the cheapest laptop capable of running my 2 accounts simultaneously for some fun mining while I'm abroad. Black friday is in a few days so maybe I can really score with the help of the Eve community.

Many thanks in advance

Did you place fun next to mining?

You either need to look up the definition of fun....or actually try mining....

2 accounts should be no problem today for a lot of current models with a somewhat decent dedicated mobile graphics card using graphics set to medium.

Get something with 6GB or more though.

Aside from the mature and human response that I greatly appreciate, do you think the extra 2 gigs will make the difference? I was looking at about 4gb's

Budget? Its only the most important bit of info missing. I know you put cheapest but give a rough number at least.

Yes, it will. I've put 8 in my Dell N5510 and there's a noticeable difference.

An EVE client starts at 1GB and grows up to about 2 GB over time. So you need 4 GB for those 2 clients and at least 2 GB for the rest. You definitely do not want your cheap laptop to start swapping lots of data.

Well thats my problem... I dont really have a budget. As I said before, the cheapest possible laptop to run 2 accounts at the same time. I want to keep it under or at the most 500 and change.

Small ssd and a larger mechanical drive, intel i5 cpu, 4gb ram, and a discreet gpu. Newegg and amazon have good laptop deals for black friday.

Yes that makes sense. Is there something out there in my price range that I might be able to customize in the range of $500 you could recommend? I've been looking at toshiba satellites but I'm not sure about the graphics processors in them.

That sounds great!

But this is whats bugging me. I pulled this from the forums

Recommended System Configuration:
OS: Windows 7 / 8
CPU: Intel i7 Series or AMD X4 @ 2.0 GHz or greater
RAM: 4 GB or higher
Video: AMD Radeon 6790 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or better with at least 1 GB VRAM

Can be done.

How's this for budget: Gateway NV56R14u ($375.00 from Target 6 months ago). Add 4 GB RAM stick (Crucial from Micro Center, $42.00).

Will run just fine with multiple clients in windowed mode with default graphics settings while outputting a movie to another screen in a 1/4 sized browser window off of Netflix. The trick is to disable audio on each client and get used to Eve in silent mode. I know... I wouldn't have thought audio playback would have made a huge difference either. And by multiple clients, I mean 6.

The difference between i5 and i7 for gaming on a laptop is minimal. i5 has been the go-to gaming cpu for years now, so I wouldn't worry about it. If you can get more than 4gb ram I'd go for it.

Thats a great recommendation. But I cant seem to find it on target now :(

Im almost considering this refurb from newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=1TS-000F-00023

It would be even nicer if I could find a cheap refurb that I could swap out the HDD for an SSD seeing how I have an extra copy of windows

Acer Aspire V5-572G-6679

Look at this model on amazon or newegg. About 100 over your budget but it has a good video card with 2gb video ram, 6gb ram, i5 cpu, windows 8 and great reviews.
